SRWUG@ Rules

RP Comm Rules

  1. Don't be a jerk.
  2. See Rule 1.
  3. If someone breaks Rules 1 and 2, don't break them yourself. Tell a mod.
  4. In fact, if you have any questions, concerns, or want to bother us about how cute your pet rabbit is, contact a mod. We may tell you we're busy, but we're here for you and will get back to you as soon as possible.
  5. No godmoding. Realistically, the line between godmoding and not godmoding is not entirely clear cut, but a good rule of thumb is: if you aren't sure if the player is okay with the direction the thread is going, ask them. Our general assumption is that people are following Rules 1 and 2, so if someone is godmoding you and you're bothered by it, see Rule 3.
  6. Tag your posts properly. We prefer you tag entries you reply to as well, but the bare minimum is your own entries. If you don't know how to tag properly, refer to Rule 4.
  7. As a general rule, we don't censor our player base. The majority of us are adults so we don't see a need. That said, not everyone is comfortable with the same material and we have no way of really confirming anyone's age so there are a couple of hard rules relating to content which should not be broken:
7-A: Before taking a thread in a direction, make sure everyone involved in the thread is comfortable with that direction.
7-B: Use appropriate warnings and cuts for any material you think might irk someone. This is particularly true for explicit content, whether that be sexual or violent in nature, but in general er on the side of caution and use warnings/cuts if you aren't sure.
7-C: As we cannot confirm age nor do we know the laws of your specific area, you agree that you are solely responsible for any content you post and interactions you have during the game.
7-D: All posts and threads must use appropriate live journal age filters, no exceptions.
7-E: Due to its controversial and trigger-y nature, following content is BANNED from the community: rape scenarios, erotic/sexual relationships between underaged characters (usually this means 13 or less, when in doubt ask the mods if your character counts), any kind of romantic relationship between an underaged and an older character.
This content may be allowed to appear in backstories or other setting elements if it is an important part of a character's background, but it should not be RPed in the community itself. Mentions and discussion of banned content is allowed, but it should be treated with seriousness. No rape jokes on the OOC chat allowed.
7-F: Rule 7 remains in effect in all three comms, as well as both the IC and OOC mission chats.
  8. You must make activity with each if your characters during every activity cycle or risk being dropped from the game. Activity has it's own page here which has a complete set of rules. If you're curious about hiatuses, rules for them can also be found here.

Mission Rules
  1. Missions are conducted in AIM chatrooms at pre-scheduled times, usually twice a week. At mission time, participating players and anyone else who happens to be online will be invited to the OOC and IC chats for that mission.
  2. Please keep general OOC chatter in the OOC chat - you can ask OOC for clarifications and permissions about the mission in the IC chat, though.
  3. The mod running the mission will describe the situation and handle NPCs and enemies, and will prompt players for actions or responses either as a group or singularly (with the character name in parentheses).
  4. Once the combat proper starts, the running mod will give a list of targets and an ordered list of initiative (turn order for players); this is the order he will prompt player characters for actions in. You may talk or make small actions at any time, but please only make major attacks and the like on your turn, when the mod calls one or more players with ({charactername}).
  5. Please do, however, plan and type out your actions ahead of time to make the mission flow quicker.
  6. After each player posts an action, the mods will respond with the results, prefaced with [charactername] of the character whose results they're describing. They may ask for a reaction from one or more players at any time (React {charactername}); you can do pretty much anything as a reaction that you can as an action, but usually it's to let you dodge or get under cover from an enemy attack.
  7. tl;dr go when the mods tell you to.

The following special characters are used to indicate actions in the mission and let the mods know you want to do something:

  • * Type an * at the beginning of any post in which you are "acting" rather than just talking as a free action. This is to help mods keep track of multi-line actions.
  • + Type a + sign when you are finished with your action. Actions can be as many lines long as you feel you need to describe them.
  • & Type an & sign when you want a reaction from your target in the middle of your action (to see if the first shot of a combo hit, for example). This replaces "-" from Super Robot Wars Unlimited Generation.
  • # When someone else has been called for a react, type # to ask the mod for a turn call to support their reaction (take a hit for them, etc.) This is called "Support Defense" or "Support Counter".
  • @ When someone else has either had an action called for or finishes an action, type @ to ask the mod for a turn call to take an action in combination with theirs. This is called a "Support Attack" or "Combo".
