The Boys Anti-Tank rifle is a British/Britannian armor-piercing precision weapon used during the first years of WWII. In real life, it was adequate against light tanks in the early part of the war, and in the Pacific front it proved to be effective against the light armored tanks of the japanese forces. However, its lack of power against heavier armor in the European front in the later years if the war forced the weapon to be replaced by PIAT Rifles.

Despite being discontinued in 1943, the weapon continued to be used (and modified) by other armies, such as the Philippine military in both WWII and the Korean war, and by the Finnish against the Soviet tanks. Additionally, US Forces in the Pacific front modified the weapon to increase it's power and precision, to great effectiveness.

In Strike Witches, the Boys Anti-Tank Rifle is much more effective than its' real-life variant. The weapon is incredibly powerful at the hands of Lynette Bishop, most likely aided by her ability, Ballistic Stabilization, and even without the scope, she can hit targets most people would need binoculars to see, taking in consideration wind, gravity, atmospheric pressure, and movement... All, with an outdated rifle by 1944.

In the first episode of S1, while making continuous fire, the rounds damage the plating of Neuroi forces, more to expose it rather than to destroy it. However, after she learns to take the time and concentration for a precise shot, her bullets become accurate and powerful enough to destroy a Neuroi core; and on the finale of Season 1 the weapon is seemingly capable of even blowing safety doors open. During Season 2, she tears a massive, gaping hole into a Neuroi whale with a single shot.
