aldo salt (03:10:37): Matthew is currently crouched in his open cockpit as the dropship maneuvers, brooding so hard he may as well be sitting on an egg.
VJockey (03:10:43): Which meant Sam had all the reason more to go, checking both sword and sheath. He had an almost exuberant smile on his face - the kind you'd see on a man with a very big gun, plenty of ammo and lots of soft squishy targets on the battlefield.

VJockey (03:11:27): "Hey, Birdy. I take it you've recovered enough from our last bout?" [He chuckles as he verbally jabs at Matthew.]
aldo salt (03:13:29): Matthew stiffens. "Trueborn physiology is particularly resilient." Oh gods, it took ages to scrub all the sand out…and it was weeks before he was able to will himself to eat calamari again...

VJockey (03:16:22): [The Brazilian Samurai smirks as he resheaths his sword - pulling on a pair of snow goggles as he exited the dropship - arm resting on the hilt of his weapon as he strolled out like he owned this place.]
aldo salt (03:16:32): "Next time." Matthew promises, baring his teeth, and seals his cockpit, sliding his Neurohelmet on, and booting up the Nova Messenger.
tengusaur (03:18:09): Even from the landing area you can see massive blast door in the mountainside, far away in the distance. Those with good eyes might notice old tracks leading towards it, left by some kind of heavy vehicles.
swedenfc19 (03:19:20): Ranna eyes the tracks for a moment, before keying her comms, "Tracks confirmed.
VJockey (03:19:53): "And the dilligent hunter speaks her mind of the obvious"
swedenfc19 (03:19:59): Ranna: "Everyone, if we come up against Word of Blake forces and take any prisoner, be careful not to approach them without any filtered respirators."
tengusaur (03:20:28): There don't seem to be any bad guys between you and the door. You are free to approach... But what to do with them? Blast them down? Cut through? Or maybe use the console next to them...
griefgathering (03:20:36): "I don't know what that is, but sure." Clearly, Neptune is out of place here. She's not even wearing any winter gear.
swedenfc19 (03:20:56): Ranna: "There is a prior incident of... biochemical weapon in a suicide capsule hidden in one of their operatives' tooth."
VJockey (03:21:00): [This of course raised an eyebrow.] "Were we taking prisoners?" [Sam's going to walk over to the console and look it over.]
aldo salt (03:21:10): "Aff, Star Captain." Matthew growls. He's more likely to vaporize them on sight with laserfire.
griefgathering (03:21:37): Neptune: "Obviously, we should use the console!"
tengusaur (03:21:47): The console seems to have a button for opening the door, though it can't be used for much more.
swedenfc19 (03:21:51): "I do not think we will be, but if any of them surrender..." Ranna replies with a shrug as she walks her Warhawk over.
VJockey (03:22:11): "Well this seems conveniently easy..... Veeery easy..."
swedenfc19 (03:22:35): Ranna: "Perhaps try it to see if the door actually opens?"
VJockey (03:22:51): "... Ahahah... I'm not one to pass up on an invitation." [And Sam hits the button, regardless of if it triggers any alarms.]
aldo salt (03:23:20): Matthew preps his weapons. Silently. Brooding. Laying an egg.
tengusaur (03:24:15): The massive door slowly opens, revealing a long corridor leaving into the mountain. If there are any alarms, you don't hear it.
tengusaur (03:24:44): The steel corridor is lit well enough to see, and big enough for the 'mechs to fit into comfortably.
griefgathering (03:25:24): Neptune: "Oho, now that looks ominous."
swedenfc19 (03:25:53): Ranna puts her Warhawk on walking speed as she enters, letting her targeting computer scan ahead.
swedenfc19 (03:26:35): "Star Commander Maya, we are entering the facility."
tengusaur (03:26:59): The computer scans the layout of this level of the base - it doesn't seem to be too complex, as you will soon find out. It doesn't detect any enemies...

griefgathering (03:28:26): Neptune: "Next thing ya know, some spiked wall shows up behind us and forces us to run all the way to the end."

tengusaur (03:29:15): Nothing springs on you yet... But the corridor is long, and it takes a few minutes to reach its end and enter the facility proper.
aldo salt (03:29:29): "Aff. The Word of Blake is…utterly mad." Matthew affirms.
tengusaur (03:30:12): What you see in front of you is a huge service area for mechs, filled with machinery for maintaning and repairing them. No actual robots are present, though.
tengusaur (03:30:51): There's one passage to the left, leading to a supply depot, and another up front, leading to a smaller supply area. There are also two elevators on the right, their doors closed.
tengusaur (03:31:02): When you enter the area, you can hear a voice over the PA system.
swedenfc19 (03:31:07): Ranna switches between thermal and magnetic scan, just in case.
tengusaur (03:31:18): PA system: "Welcome to Facility Glorious Light. Acolytes please report to your respective Adepts
for further orders. Message of the Day: By Fire and Fury shall the heretics be purged."
aldo salt (03:31:46): "Star Captain…" Matthew says via a tight-beam transmission. "Why are there no mechs in the gantry bays?"
swedenfc19 (03:31:49): Ranna: "Acolytes, adepts. Definitely Word of Blake."
VJockey (03:32:23): "Mm.. I'd say they're probably expecting us."
griefgathering (03:32:28): Neptune: "Maybe they're all out partying!"
swedenfc19 (03:32:44): Ranna, to Matthew, "Uncertain, evacuated? Ambushing?"
VJockey (03:33:10): "I can imagine what sort of parties a cult would have. 'Hello good sir, are you here for the human sacrifice?'"
aldo salt (03:33:15): "We most likely should assume the later." Matthew suggests to Ranna.
tengusaur (03:33:20): According to Ranna's scan, there should be a control room next to the secondary service area.
aldo salt (03:33:30): "Which spots would be most likely points for ambush?"
swedenfc19 (03:34:12): Ranna looks around: "Elevators and the exterior. Perhaps... My scanner has detected what appears to be a control room."
swedenfc19 (03:34:43): Ranna: "Perhaps we should proceed to that and procure whatever data we can."
aldo salt (03:35:51): "What do you say, warrior Sam?" Matthew says. "Poking the hornet's nest seems an entertaining proposition, quiaff?"
swedenfc19 (03:36:03): She does move her mech towards the secondary service area on that.
tengusaur (03:37:10): The secondary area is much smaller than the main one, with no other passages. There is a control room right next to it, however, filled with computer screens, consoles and keyboards. And it's completely unguarded.
VJockey (03:37:45): "Of course, where would the fun be without a few fights?"
swedenfc19 (03:39:22): Ranna: "Would any of you do the honors? It may be best if Matthew and I, at least, stand guard in our mechs."
swedenfc19 (03:40:10): She positions her mech, watching over the sole entrance into this smaller service area.
griefgathering (03:40:19): Neptune: "Sure! Gimme a sec..."
VJockey (03:40:29): "Oh gladly."
aldo salt (03:40:44): Matthew pivots his Nova and faces the elevator alcoves.
VJockey (03:41:27): [Sam's already moving, despite his rather flippant and unprofessional manner... he was certainly ready for a surprise.[
griefgathering (03:41:32): Neptune: "This thing could run some pretty rad games, but they've only got solitaire!"
VJockey (03:42:37): "You expected anything else from people without that much imagination?" [
tengusaur (03:43:19): What's on the console (other than Solitaire)? There appears to be the controls for the lift, as well as some encrypted, most likely top secret Words of Blake data. But it takes some technical wizardry to dig that up and upload it!
griefgathering (03:43:29): Neptune: "Well, you're right there. So what'm I supposed to do with this again?"
tengusaur (03:43:55): (upload it to whatever data storage devices you have, that is)
swedenfc19 (03:44:09): Ranna: "Can you decrypt it now? If not, we should obtain the data and head back to the Chalice."
griefgathering (03:44:52): Neptune: "Gotcha! I guess I'll do this and this and this..."
griefgathering (03:45:21): *If there's any way to get that data to Ranna, then that's what she'll do.+
tengusaur (03:45:47): Decrypting it... Is going to be very difficult, and time-consuming. It will probably take at least a few hours, so it might be a better idea to just steal the data.
swedenfc19 (03:45:54): Annnd Ranna will be downloading it to her computer.
tengusaur (03:46:02): And sending it to Ranna's computer doesn't prove to be very difficult at all!

swedenfc19 (03:48:27): She moves her mech over to the passageway leading into the secondary service area, trying to cover the elevators.
tengusaur (03:48:29): Nope! The control room's access to the lift has been cut off!
griefgathering (03:49:18): Neptune: "Uuu...no good! I'm locked out!"
VJockey (03:49:25): "Well then. We may as well do it manually... Someone get those doors open."
VJockey (03:49:36): [Sam's already moving towards the elevators.]
aldo salt (03:50:18): "Star Captain Ranna." Matthew says in a light-hearted tone. "Would you like to make a wager?"
tengusaur (03:50:29): Sam doesn't even have to enter the other area before the elevator doors start to open!
swedenfc19 (03:50:30): Ranna starts firing her weapons as she moves closer to them as well. "What is it?"
tengusaur (03:50:48): And from them, a whole lot of enemies emerge into your direction!
swedenfc19 (03:51:32): "The elevators are... bigger than I thought."
griefgathering (03:51:35): Neptune: "So they were having a party!"
tengusaur (03:51:44): First, there are Desperado soldiers - armored cyborg stormtroopers, and walking Irving-type machines, letting out weird howls as they approach!

aldo salt (03:56:50): Matthew takes aims at the lead Blake Mech…and toggles all his lasers for an Alpha Strike. "Blakist surats..."
tengusaur (03:57:21): Sam rushes towards the Archangel, getting ready to eviscerate it - just as it targets him, getting ready to fire a plasma rifle at him! But before any of them can attack...
tengusaur (03:58:14): ???: "Greetings, samurai. Let us fight."

swedenfc19 (03:59:03): Meanwhile, Ranna tries to communicate with the dropship outside, "Maya, do you read?"
tengusaur (03:59:16): Suddenly, a previously cloaked, quadrapedal shape rushes towards Sam - it uncloaks slower than it attacks, but fast enough to see that the weapon it uses is some kind of chainsaw blade, aimed right at his neck! (react/continue)
tengusaur (04:00:28): Neptune cuts down two of the shock troops - and is met by fire from several more of them, firing heavy machine guns in her direction! (react)

tengusaur (04:03:09): Sam's blade scrapes against the whirring chainsaw for a moment, but he pushes the attacker back! It lands on its feet, completely uncloaked, and reveals itself to be some kind of robotic animal...
griefgathering (04:03:20): Neptune: *Raises her blade to deflect some of those shots while she runs towards them. "Hehe! Don't think Sam's the only one who can do this!" The sword is then charged with blue energy, unleashed with another swing as a wave of ice! "Ice Edge!"+

tengusaur (04:06:11): Ranna smashes the cockpits of the two Pretas, destroying them with ease. But the shocktroopers jump away with ridiculous agility! To make it worse, the other Pretas are firing particle cannons at her now! (react)

tengusaur (04:07:26): Good news - alpha striking a 'mechs cockpit does a good result at destroying it. Bad news - not Matthew is the target of a swarm of missiles shot by the other Grigoris! (react)
tengusaur (04:08:21): Neppu deflects a lot of the incoming bullets, then sends a wave of ice at the attackers, completely freezing and shattering two more! The rest escape or hide behind heavy assault shields.
swedenfc19 (04:08:22): Her Warhawk jinks and torso twists to minimize the profile before the arms of the mech sweeps across the Pretas... As she tries to aim for the cockpit on them all. With these numbers, they must be taken out fast.+

aldo salt (04:10:52): "I will think of a suitable reward for you, Star Captain!" *Matthew triggers his jump-jets, and Dom-surfs back and to the left, trying to duck behind a gantry.+

aldo salt (04:11:45): Matthew blinks. "That voice…" Assuredly that of a Clanner, and yet…grizzled. Huh?
VJockey (04:11:53): "Those seem like some pretty dumb orders pup." [Especially given the reputation that the people he's travelling with have.] "You should try following orders of your own sometime. I'd start by leaving."
tengusaur (04:13:08): Matthew manages to escape most of the incoming missiles, though some of them still deal light damage to his armor. Ranna takes a bit more damage from the incoming PPCs, though she also burns the Pretas with her own fire (but they're only damaged, not destroyed).

tengusaur (04:13:42): The robotic dog seems to hesitate for a second, but then it gets ready for a pounce.
lionel boyd bokanon johnson (04:13:43): ???: "I am Nikolai Djerassi, of Clan Goliath Scorpion, in command of the 1st Cateran Cluster. We have spent the last of our fuel to get down to you here. I hope it was a good price to pay!" He chuckles. "How can we be of assistance?" From the shadows of the entranceway, several Elementals emerge, bearing their clan's symbol. They must have been running passive sensors.

VJockey (04:17:05): *Sam's going to rush forward, letting loose a series of rapid slashes at the robotic wolf! Yes... Knives, claws, saw and tail. He knows what to watch out for+
aldo salt (04:17:23): "Welcome to the Earth Sphere, then, Mechwarrior Djerassi!" Matthew intones, maneuvering through the hanger. "Things are never dull!"
lionel boyd bokanon johnson (04:18:25): Nikolai: He laughs again. "Thank you but I am an Elemental! If you can get some of those mechs to follow you back towards the corridor you came in on, my Warriors will be able to swarm them."
tengusaur (04:18:43): The robot jumps over Sam, sending a hail of ridiculously sharp throwing knives at his direction! But despite its agility, his strikes hit it several times and deal a decent amount of damage to its armor... (react)
swedenfc19 (04:19:18): Ranna then chuckles as well, "Actually, Matthew, if he is leading a Cluster, he would at least be a Star Colonel, quiaff?"
griefgathering (04:19:25): Neptune: *"I ain't gonna say no to help, but these guys won't take themselves down!" And this time Neppu goes for one of the Irvings! "Over here!" Lightning covers her sword as she leaps and slashes at it!+
tengusaur (04:20:41): Neptune cuts straight through the Irving, making the two sides fall apart! But another one of them is right behind her, roars like a cow from hell, and tries to kick her with a sweep strong enough to send a heavy truck flying! (react)

As soon as one of the enemy mechs gets within range, several Elementals will leap onto it, tearing its armor away with their battle claws and firing into the exposed interior.

aldo salt (04:26:17): *Matthew bides his time…then zips out of cover, bobbing and weaving, peppering a Preta's cockpit with laser fire…then Dom-surfing up to point-blank range. "Novaaaa Cutterrrrr!" A combination Alpha Strike and slash through the torso with his arm radiator blades!"+

Scorpions are known to be some of the best marksmen in the Clans, but this might be a little much. However he can't revel in however many he took down, as several of his Warriors, who had been trying to sneak around to the backs of the other mechs, suddenly cry out and babble. Looks like the Necrosia they took worked too well!

He lands safely but the truck is gone. Instead he has to roll through, just as Matthew's barrage arrives.

swedenfc19 (05:35:18): There is still thermal vision, of course, but many pilots tend to aim worse in that view mode due to the less distinctive outlines.+

tengusaur (05:37:59): Because most of the defenders are focusing on Ranna, Matthew's lasers manage to stop one more truck! His unit is going to overheat any momeny now, though...
swedenfc19 (05:38:00): Her tone is definitely respectful, though not particularly deferent. Probably due to being in different Clans?
tengusaur (05:38:44): Nikolai's extra barrage helps Ranna raise an obstructive cloud with her ground-attacking tactic. Thanks to that, she takes relatively little damage from all this stuff flying at her.
tengusaur (05:38:51): Two trucks are left! And they're about to leave!

aldo salt (05:39:30): "I will try as well, after I do one more thing!" Matthew declares. He pauses in his firing for a moment, letting some heat bleed away… then he opens fire at the nearest truck with five medium lasers. "Nova Burst!"
swedenfc19 (05:39:40): Ranna tries again even as she attempts to race after them. "Star Commander Maya, do you read?"
lionel boyd bokanon johnson (05:39:54): Nikolai: Unfortunately that debris cloud works both ways and his next shots are inaccurate despite it.
VJockey (05:40:33): *That last Shocktrooper? Sam's going to slash him in two to rip out the spine-like container of Nano-Repair fluid - crush the thing and use it to temporarily patch up any damage AND give his suit's batteries a charge for what he has planned.. oh yes&
tengusaur (05:41:59): Ranna can hear some message in response, but there's such heavy static that it's hard to make out anything!
griefgathering (05:43:11): Neptune: *If you thought one energy sword was bad, have 6 being summoned around her now! She fires all of them at Khamsin and Sundowner with a wave of her hand!+
tengusaur (05:43:50): Sam achieves his goal - violently! But there's more violence going his way, as Sundowner rushes towards him and leaps, bringing both blades down at him with ridiculous force! (react/continue)

VJockey (05:47:22): "Ha.... ha..." *Sam watches as the blades fall... everything slowing down to him as he resheathed his sword. The Batteries in his suit suddenly draining as a massive spike of activity cleaned them dry. What did Sam do? He supercharged both the High Frequency Modulator on his blade AND his suit's reflexes - letting loose a mighty parry to Sundowner's downward strike that were it another man attacking Sam - they would be tossed aside, have much of their body torn off - and their weapon completely scrapped!+

lionel boyd bokanon johnson (05:49:16): Nikolai can't do much, as as he's riding Ranna's mech, which is faster than he is on foot. He'll also try to raise the Wolf dropships of course. Anyone who's making for the trucks will probably also have some Elementals clinging to them

aldo salt (05:51:34): *"Aff, Star Captain! Hold on, Galaxy Commander! TOH!!!" Matthew triggers his jump-jets and Dom-surfs forward, revving it up to full throttle. As he races forward and out of the tunnel, he transmits a repeating signal to the dropship at full strength!+
tengusaur (05:52:16): The strength of Sam's parry surprises Sundowner, and makes him stumble and open himself for a counterattack by the same swing!
tengusaur (05:52:34): Neptune smashes right through Khamsin's giant weapon, shattering it!

aldo salt (05:53:47): "Star Commander Maya! This is Mechwarrior Matthew of Clan Gurren Brigade and Galaxy Commander Djesani! Word of Blake elements are retreating at coordinates G6 with unknown payload! Intercept!"
tengusaur (05:53:59): Sundowner: "Shut up! This is not the last time we'll spill blood on the battlefield, Jetstream Sam..."

tengusaur (05:55:42): The two cyborgs get the hell away, catching the ride atop nearby Irvings, mighty pissed off. They disappear in the cloud raised by Ranna.
tengusaur (05:56:17): Speaking of which, thanks to her putting it up, the enemies are forced to shoot blind as they retreat, and nothing really hits you.
tengusaur (05:56:39): Maya: "Aff. Weapons, once we have an opening, I want a full salvo on that convoy!"
VJockey (05:56:48): [Sam's going to flick his blade clean before resheathing it, turning around to see how everyone else did.] "Well... I'd say everything went well"

tengusaur (05:57:42): Where, up in the skies, you can see an aerial battle in progress!

tengusaur (05:58:21): Between small numbers of Clan Wolf and Blakist aerospace fighters.
tengusaur (05:58:35): But the former seem to have a clean advantage!
tengusaur (05:58:59): You can see the enemy convoy slowly disappear inside another, nearby tunnel, previously invisible...
tengusaur (05:59:10): But suddenly, bombardment falls upon it!
tengusaur (05:59:22): It destroys one of the trucks and a few units of the escort!
aldo salt (05:59:23): "More fanatics to shoot down!" Matthew affirms. "How are you doing there, Galaxy Commander?" He asks over his shoulder.
tengusaur (05:59:28): But not all of them...
tengusaur (06:00:00): Suddenly, there is a huge, ground-shaking explosion there!
tengusaur (06:00:17): Clan Wolf pilot: " Stravag! They just blew the tunnel entrance behind them! We can see the debris cloud from up here!"
lionel boyd bokanon johnson (06:00:22): Nikolai: "Nominal. Try not to overheat there, I cannot get clear as fast as you if you go critical."
lionel boyd bokanon johnson (06:01:23): Nikolai: "I reccomend we leave off then. We will not get through all that debris in time to catch that last truck. Let us turn back and assist our comrades still inside the facility."
tengusaur (06:01:24): It is true... The escaping enemies disappeared inside the tunnel, and there's no way to follow them now. No sight of either Blakists or Desperado forces anymore.
aldo salt (06:01:25): "Aff. Accidentally killing the former Khan of Clan Goliath Scorpion would be a poor footnote to my legacy." Matthew slows down.
aldo salt (06:01:41): He then proceeds to turn around.
tengusaur (06:02:04): Maya: "Return to the extraction point. It will take days, even weeks to excavate through that tunnel. We will deploy Elementals to clean up the facility."
swedenfc19 (06:02:25): Ranna slows her mech to a walk as she scans around, just in case. "Aff, Star Commander."
VJockey (06:04:07): "If its not too much trouble, let me know if you find anything on Desperado. I need to settle a few matters with them."
swedenfc19 (06:04:23): Ranna: "Aff."
