[20:39] Nerdorama09: Earlier, Team Protagonists received a distress call from a military base in the North American desert. In a suspiciously Samaritan move for him, Hayato volunteered to take the partially-repaired Tower in response, along with Ichitaka, Rinon, a new guy who got picked up earlier, and some poor dumb cook.
[20:39] Eric: Hayato is not terribly impressed with what he has to work with
[20:40] Nerdorama09: While we wait to hear what Hayato, Ichitaka, Rinon, Aidan, and Akito are doing, let's check in with the military base where that distress call was issued from.
[20:41] Aero: Ichitaka per usual immediately volunteered to help out Hayato whether he liked it or now.
[20:41] TK: Aidan is sitting in a Glasgow. Confused as to how everything works.
[20:41] Nerdorama09: Specifically, it's a facility built into the cliffs at the end of a long, box canyon that's currently being assaulted by a horde of spiny, blobbly black things, supplemented by some spiny, blobby black robots that might have once looked kinda like dinosaurs.
[20:41] Aero: He's sitting in Rushbird waiting for something to inevitably go wrong
[20:41] Dessa: Rinon's going over all of Dibison's weaponry, making sure that everything is ready.
[20:41] Knux: Akito is obviously divided. Part of him is glad to be out of Tsukasa's cook slave job. Anther part is wishing he didn't get stuck in piloting. AGAIN.
[20:42] Eric: Don't forget to mention all the eyes
[20:42] Nerdorama09: Billions of eyes. All the eyes.
[20:42] Nerdorama09: The facility is currently holding because there's only one way to get to it, which is being covered by a few mechs on the walls. One of them is piloted by Atticus Crowley.
[20:43] Nerdorama09: (Atticus, go ahead and take some potshots at the enemy Invaders and Invader-Mechasauruses. There's about a million of them, and you have some NPC allies in mooks for fire support)
[20:44] Lichi: ((Did we get any signal that help was on the way?))
[20:44] Nerdorama09: (Hayato?)
[20:44] *** Herc has left the chat.
[20:44] Nerdorama09: Meanwhile, stuck inside the base with some very rude and highly panicky Americans are Benkei and Kei Kuruma. Who can also say what they're doing.

[20:45] Lichi: Atticus: "We just have to hold out a while longer, men. Time is on our side."
[20:45] Steam: Kei is furiously working to try to load her RPG with more of those liquid nitrogen rounds.
[20:45] Steam: They worked well enough before!
[20:45] AF: Benkei is having a pretty shitty day, but, hey, he's been having a pretty shitty day for the past, oh, 15 years or so. He is doing his best to get people to calm the fuck down and go do something /constructive/.
[20:45] Lichi: The Harriet's laser rifle fired a few more shots at anything on the enemies that looked vulnerable, trying to take them out a few at time.
[20:46] Lichi: If nothing else, he knew their shots could ... 'discourage' anyone from moving into sight.

[20:47] Nerdorama09: [Atticus] Fortunately, criticals to the eyes are easy on Invaders! You can pop several of the smaller tentacley blobs. The bits and pieces of the exploded ones quickly start gathering together and healing, but at least it's enough to slow the whole mass of them down for now.
[20:48] TK: (Can see see the specific mecha which are defending the area?)
[20:48] Nerdorama09: (You will as soon as you deploy)
[20:48] TK: (Okay, check.)
[20:49] TK: Aidan is trying to figure this out as he goes using the manual. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, but he knows the area more than a lot of other people. So going out there seemed like a good idea at the time.
[20:49] Nerdorama09: The few other Drifter Sentinel defenders on the walls give a rather panicky support with machine guns as well. If the approach to the base wasn't so narrow, they'd definitely be overwhelmed.
[20:50] Eric: Hayato: "Don't hold any firepower back when you deploy."

[20:50] Eric: "You need to go all out from the gate"
[20:50] Lichi: Atticus: "Stay calm, men! Just hold together a while longer."
[20:50] Nerdorama09: It's at about this point that the Tower arrives
[20:50] Aero: Ichitaka: "U-understood."
[20:50] Knux: Akito: "R-Right..."
[20:50] Dessa: Rinon: "What else would we do?"
[20:50] Lichi: ((Where are the reinforcements? Is their craft visible?))
[20:51] Nerdorama09: (It is coming into view now. It's a big-ass impractically tall land battleship)
[20:51] Nerdorama09: (Initiative: Atticus, Aidan, Rinon, Akito, Ichitaka, Hayato)
[20:52] Nerdorama09: (Enemies: Invader Mechasaurus Thing x4, Invaders xA Lot)
[20:52] Nerdorama09: (Objective: Wipe out the Invaders attacking the base)
[20:52] Nerdorama09: (Atticus, Aidan) (Also everyone can deploy)
[20:53] Aero: Ichitaka: Alright lets go, Ichitaka, Rushbird. Heading out.
[20:54] TK: Aidan almost trips and falls over as he heads out. Moving on wheels is strange, though at least he has some experience with sand hover units which are... slightly similar.
[20:54] Knux: Akito: Akito Tenkawa, launching! NNNNGH!
[20:54] Lichi: *Atticus goes over open communicaitons: "Identify yourself." It was a professional caution that he gave as he, using a camera pod set up earlier, fired scrap metal from his mortar onto some enemies out of line of sight.+
[20:55] Dessa: Rinon: "Rinon Toros, Dibison, GO!"
[20:55] TK: Aidan "In case you can't tell, this is my first time piloting one of these things, so I might need some cover at some point."
[20:55] Eric: Hayato: "This is Colonel Jin of the Japanese Super Robot corps."
[20:56] Nerdorama09: (People inside the base should be able to hear this as well)
[20:56] Steam: Kei suddenly apuses though when she hears that name and then turns to Benkei.
[20:57] Steam: "Heh... the calvalry's one of your old friends, pops? Why didn't you say so?"
[20:57] AF: Benkei /immediately/ stops what he was doing.
[20:57] Lichi: Atticus: "The Japanese --"
[20:57] Lichi: Atticus kept shooting, he had better things to do.
[20:57] Nerdorama09: Atticus's mortar shot manages to annoy something out of his sight, which responds by lobbing huge bony spines in his general direction (Atticus react)
[20:58] Steam: Aaaand the look on Benkei's face has suddenly got Kei curious. "Pops? Something the matter?"
[20:58] AF: He ignores Kei's question and goes to shanghai the nearest radio he can find. "Hayato?!"
[20:58] Eric: Hayato: "So you're alive after all."
[20:58] Eric: "We'll play reunion later."
[20:59] Lichi: Atticus: "Got some friends here? Well we're damn glad to see you."
[21:00] Lichi: Atticus: "This canyon has kept us alive, bottlenecking these bastards into scope..."
[21:00] Lichi: Atticus: "But it goes both ways."
[21:00] AF: Benkei mutters something under his breath about /some/ hello that was, but it's not like he expected /better/ from Hayato. "I'll hold you to that."
[21:01] TK: (I'm kind of confused... what exactly is going on right now?)
[21:01] Aero: (you and atticus should be doing stuff)
[21:01] Eric: (As I get it, the Tower is attacking the Invaders from the rear)
[21:01] Nerdorama09: (You guys are here) (A swarm of hideous monsters are boxed in a canyon here) (Atticus and the military base are here)
[21:01] Nerdorama09: (Pretend that's all one line)
[21:02] TK: (And Kei and Benkei are in said military base?)

[21:02] TK: (Righto, that's what I thought... So have we officially launched enough to see the Drifter Sentinels?)
[21:02] Nerdorama09: (Yes. You have deployed. You can see them)
[21:02] Nerdorama09: (There's one with a fancy laser rifle and 3 or 4 scared mooks with machine guns and shotguns)
[21:03] TK: Aidan "...The Longest Gun?" He voices confused recognition. Why would the Longest Gun be at a military base fighting off Invaders?
[21:05] Nerdorama09: (Also Atticus really should respond to a giant bony spike flying at him)

[21:06] Lichi: *The Harriet lowered behind the cover of sand bags and metal plates in front of it, giving return fire with its mortar if able+
[21:07] Nerdorama09: [Atticus] The cover stops most of the spike's velocity, saving the Harriet from getting skewered, though it takes out most of the cover and replaces it with its own mass.
[21:09] Nerdorama09: (While we're waiting on TK: Rinon, Akito)
[21:09] Lichi: ((Is the spike sufficiently large to use as cover?))
[21:09] Nerdorama09: (Honestly it's bigger than the sandbags it just destroyed)
[21:10] Knux: *As the Aestivalis Land Frame (why did he decide on the normal Land Frame for this?!) came crashing to the ground, the tiny machine let loose a hail of machinegun fire from his gun. One would probably notice the poor guy screaming in terror as he did so.
[21:10] TK: *Aidan takes out the Glasgow and draws it's... machine pistols and starts to fire them at a group of Invaders. Knives are more his style... but getting close to those things seems like a bad idea. At least until he is more aware of exactly what they can do. &

[21:11] TK: Aidan "Does anyone have any info on those things?"
[21:12] TK: Aidan "Is there anything I should know about them aside of shoot them a lot?"
[21:12] Nerdorama09: [Akito and Aidan]'s machinegun fire reduces some of the smaller (Link: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v26/professorscissors/puppy3.jpg) things in the back to goo, but there are a lot more whose attention they get
[21:13] Nerdorama09: A mass of small Invaders turn and charge en masse toward the Aestivalis and the Glasgow, horrible clawed feet faster on sandy ground than wheels or treads (Aidan and Akito react and continue acting)
[21:13] Dessa: *Rinon might not have had much speed in Dibison, but it was made up for in firepower. So she simply started bombarding the enemies with shots from her 8-shot missile pods.+

[21:14] Nerdorama09: [Rinon] is safe from the charge by hanging back and missile spamming, though one of the larger, robotic Invaders turns on her and fires rockets covered in an inky blackness (and mouths) back at the Dibison, even as the missiles wipe out some of its smaller brethren. (Rinon react)
[21:14] TK: Aidan "Gotta think fast."
[21:14] Knux: *Almost immediately, Akito kicks the Aestivalis into reverse, the treads kicking up dust as he fires wildly.&
[21:15] TK: (What's the terrain we are fighting in like aside of the canyon? Are we near any tall walls or the like?)
[21:15] Dessa: Rinon: "What the heck?"
[21:15] Lichi: Atticus: "Take'em out decisively before they regenerate."
[21:15] Dessa: *Rinon shot at the rockets coming toward her with her Pulse Beam Gun.+
[21:15] Nerdorama09: (Sand, rocks, vertical rocks)
[21:16] Nerdorama09: [Akito] The fire and dust confuse the Invaders, but one of them, about the size of the Aestivalis but otherwise looking like an Alien from Alien but with more eyeballs, leaps at him, body twisting around the bullets (react)
[21:16] TK: *Aidan, knowing quite well how to fight on sand, and how well wheels work on it (ie: not well) moves back in leaps and bounds making sure to stay on packed earth rather than loose sand when he can. "Gotta do something!" And so he fires a slash harken... whatever that is into one of the oncoming invaders... &
[21:17] Nerdorama09: [Rinon] The rockets scream as they're shot down. It's safe, but...
[21:17] Knux: Akito: Get away!
[21:18] Knux: *In a panic, the Aestivalis leaps airborne, attempting to evade the pounce&
[21:18] Nerdorama09: [Aidan] Aidan doesn't miss a step on his home terrain, even in an unfamiliar mech, and a sharp hook on a cable tears an Invader in half - each half forming into a smaller copy, but now they're having a hard time reaching him.

[21:18] TK: Aidan "Stop panicking. You'll get trapped in the sand!"
[21:18] Lichi: @Aidan
[21:18] Nerdorama09: (Go for it)
[21:19] TK: That was directly to Akito by the way.
[21:19] Nerdorama09: [Akito] There's a sickening sound of tearing metal as the Invader latches a claw into the Aestivalis's foot, but the heat of the Aesti's jump thrusters manages to blast the thing off before it can do more than cosmetic damage.
[21:20] Nerdorama09: (Ichitaka, Hayato)
[21:20] Eric: *Despite the beating it took from the Festum, The Tower has gotten a FEW guns back online, and at Hayato's command those are aimed at the frontlines, taking pressure off the forces defending the base.+
[21:20] TK: Aidan then notices what a Slash Harken is and smirks, "So THAT"s what a slash Harken is?"
[21:20] Lichi: *Climbing up prone over that spike, the Harriet hefted its laser rifle and held down the trigger, creating a constant beam that cut over the faces of those half-pint invaders. If he was on his mark at least.+
[21:20] Eric: (Bigass machineguns, mostly)
[21:20] TK: He picked the right mecha after all.
[21:20] Knux: Akito: "Well, what do you WANT me to do?! I'm a cook!"
[21:21] TK: (May I continue with my previous action?)
[21:21] TK: (& I mean?)
[21:21] Aero: *The Rushbird jumps high into the air as usual it aims it's right arm down towards the Invader swarm. "LIGHT BLAZER." He swept the beam across as many of the Invaders as he could,+
[21:21] Nerdorama09: [Aidan] The two smaller Invaders get vaporized by long-range laser fire, but you can continue if those weren't your targets.
[21:23] Nerdorama09: [Ichitaka] Rushbird also takes out several of the beasts, but they're definitely taking notice of the attack from behind now. Most of the Invaders in the back charge forward - largely into the Tower's guns, but the wave of distorting flesh is hardly slowed by that.
[21:23] Nerdorama09: [That was also Hayato I guess]
[21:24] Aero: Ichitaka: "That should help out the others on the opposite side..."
[21:24] Knux: Akito: "Yeah, but now they're aiming for us!"
[21:25] Aero: Ichitaka: "We are the better armed ones in this situation."
[21:25] TK: *Aidan takes the Glasgaw towards the rock wall, and fires the Slash Harkens at the wall. As if he does this sort of thing all the time (in fact, in his old unit, he does) he starts to scale the biggest sandstone rock he can find. His legwork is a bit awkward (he isn't used to having roller blades) but he is revving them against the pull of gravity while they are on the rockface, while using the two slash harkens to brace himself. Slinging them higher and higher he tries to get to the highest vantage point he can. Since the Slash Harkens are shoulder mounted, he fires shots into the crowd of Invaders when he can. +
[21:25] TK: Aidan "Not so sure about that. But it was gonna happen anyway."
[21:25] Nerdorama09: The gunfire and Slash Harken fire tear through the Invaders like they were made of eyeballs or something.
[21:26] Nerdorama09: However, the torn-up Invaders start coalescing back together...not individually, but into one huge, Chernobog-from-Fantasia-looking beast, which rapidly turns its arms into bony scythe-like things and takes swipes at The Tower with its now huge reach (Hayato react)
[21:27] Eric: Not much he can do. The Tower kicks into reverse while the guns focus on the base of the claw/scythe.+
[21:27] TK: (Does Aidan succeed in scaling the rock face to get to the top of the rock? For that matter, is there a top of the rock which he can actually stand on? He can work with either.)

[21:27] Aero: (very late #)
[21:27] Nerdorama09: Meanwhile, the other half of the Invaders are also pulling together into larger beasts, centered around the Invaderized Mechasauruses. The latter launch a volley of rockets, spines, and thrown blades covered in corrosive blackness toward the defensive lines (Atticus react)
[21:27] Nerdorama09: (Ichitaka support)
[21:27] TK: # Atticus
[21:28] Nerdorama09: (Aidan is now on top of the cliff face and can support Atticus)
[21:29] TK: *Aidan shoots the machine pistols at whats being shot at the Base, Aiming to knock as much of it as he can. One good turn deserves another after all. +
[21:29] Aero: *"Oh no you don't." The Rushbird flies towards the large scythe it's right fist glowing again as Ichitaka pumped more power into it. "LIGHTNING FIST." He slams the fist into the side of the scythe hoping to either destroy it or at the very least change it's trajectory.+
[21:31] Nerdorama09: [Hayato and Ichitaka] Ichitaka stops one of the attacks, damaging the scythe. The form of the arm changes as Ichitaka attacks it , attempting to stab into the Rushbird with sharp tendrils (Ichitaka react). The other arm takes a chunk out of the Tower's hull, but nothing vital yet.
[21:31] Lichi: *Atticus does not like the looks of that blackness. The Harriet pushes one of the nearby drifter sentinels off of the top of the building to try and save the ally...
[21:32] Eric: Hayato grinds his teeth. Why did old friends have to show up NOW?
[21:32] Nerdorama09: [Aidan and Atticus] Aidan takes out some of the volley, but there's only so much the small autocannons can do (Atticus continue reacting)
[21:32] *** Mister has left the chat.
[21:32] Lichi: *... and then slides to the edge of the roof, wall hanging to let those attacks go over his head.+
[21:32] TK: Aidan "Hey, you in the pink whatever. Are you okay?"
[21:32] Aero: *"Not this time. " As the arm changed the Rushbird released all of the built up energy used for the Lightning Fist. "LIGHT BLAZER." Firing out the large beam once again to incinerate the tendrils.+
[21:33] Nerdorama09: The attacks smash into the base, doing some damage, though less than they would have done to Atticus or the ally he just saved.
[21:33] Lichi: Atticus: "Men, cover's blown! We're sitting ducks up here! Go mobile!!"
[21:33] Nerdorama09: The defensive line is now more or less nonexistant
[21:34] Nerdorama09: [Ichitaka] Rushbird loses a chunk of energy, but that will replenish. The Invader's tentacles are stopped, regardless.
[21:34] Knux: (Who was Aidan's comment directed to?)
[21:34] Nerdorama09: (THe NPCs, I assume)
[21:34] TK: (Akito, who else is in a pinkish mecha?)
[21:34] Knux: (Oh, right, derp)
[21:35] Nerdorama09: (Whoops, mixed up Aidan and Atticus)
[21:35] Aero: Ichitaka: "Looks like I might have to use 'that'."
[21:35] Knux: Akito: I'm fine, I'm fine...!
[21:35] Nerdorama09: (Enemies: 4 large Invaders (all damaged due to fire on the smaller Invaders before, 4 Invadersauruses)
[21:35] TK: Aidan "Be careful. Sand isn't fun to be trapped in. Believe me I know."
[21:35] Nerdorama09: (Atticus, Aidan)
[21:35] *** AkuryoutheShadow has left the chat.
[21:36] Knux: Akito: "Next time I'll remember to switch... If there IS a next time."
[21:36] Nerdorama09: One of the large Invaders strides forward over the wrecked wall and starts laying waste to the base proper (react to falling roofs and walls, Benkei and Kei)
[21:37] Lichi: The Harriet drops to the ground, Atticus cursing.
[21:37] TK: Aidan "There will be. Just get to higher ground if you can."
[21:37] Lichi: This may be the time to get out of dodge.
[21:38] TK: *Aidan takes a look at the general area. This isn't good, at least he has a good vantage point. But this doesn't play to his strengths. The invaders don't seem to respond to getting cut apart any more than the Festum do, they just multiply and then fuse again. What he needs is explosives. Nevertheless he watches the combat to try and find an opening. Watch and wait, an opening would present itself. It always does. &
[21:38] Steam: * Falling roofs and walls? Not like that's going to scare Kei away without giving a parting shot. Kei scrambles away from the destruction but she brings up her rocket launcher. "... We don't need mechs to beat you!" she grunts as she hefts her launcher and fires a round at it! Yeah she's disregarding her own safety. What of it?+
[21:38] Lichi: *It kicks up the hover jets, moving away from the base and making a storm of dust around it as it starts firing at the enemies with spotting from the camera pods on the canyon walls.+
[21:39] Nerdorama09: (Was that a liquid nitrogen round, Kei?)
[21:39] Steam: (Yes)
[21:39] AF: *Benkei isn't going to let Kei get away with disregarding her own safety for long! "Kei! We need to get out of here!" He'll grab her arm to drag her along if he has to.+
[21:40] Steam: Kei grumbles as her father grabs at her. "I'm covering our escape! That thing'll kill other otherwise!"
[21:40] Nerdorama09: [Kei] The huge Invader's arm is frozen solid and shatters! Which doesn't stop its other arm from continuing to do damage as it starts to grow three more for the hell of it. Then she gets grabbed by Benkei and pulled out of the way of fallen debris
[21:40] Steam: Still though: FUCK YES! Her creation still works!
[21:41] Nerdorama09: [Aidan] Aidan takes some chunks out of an Invader's legs with ease, avoiding counterattacks thanks to the dust he's kicking up.
[21:41] Lichi: ((Can i get a run down of the situation? Sorry))
[21:41] TK: (Atticus, you mean)
[21:41] Nerdorama09: (Yes)
[21:42] Nerdorama09: [Atticus] If you attack the one whose legs are being cut into by Aidan, you might get it to fall over.
[21:42] Nerdorama09: (Continue if desired)
[21:42] Steam: Kei finally gets to running with Benkei rather than being just pulled by him, with a rather proud look on her face.
[21:43] Steam: "See that? One shot and I probably just saved our lives!"
[21:43] Nerdorama09: (The current situation is four big Invaders, one attacking the Tower (battleship) and three rampaging around the Base)
[21:43] TK: (There is a canyon which is filled with invaders right now?)
[21:43] Nerdorama09: (Yes, the battlefield is still the canyon
[21:43] Lichi: *The dust storm flies right on by damaged leg, cutting into on the opposite side with the Harriet's bayonet. If things work out? That thing is going to collapse.+
[21:43] TK: (Important thing being that it's a Canyon.)
[21:43] Aero: (I don't think a rockslide will kill invaders)
[21:43] TK: (Not what I was thinking, but good idea nonetheless.)
[21:44] Nerdorama09: (It'd leave them vulnerable, at least)
[21:44] AF: Benkei: "And you're a fool if you think that trick will work twice!"
[21:45] Nerdorama09: [Atticus] One of the Invaders is successfully tripped up, falling to the ground with a shriek.
[21:45] Steam: Kei just scoffs at that. "That's in the long-term! Right now we're alive thanks to it!"
[21:45] Nerdorama09: (Rinon, Akito)
[21:46] TK: *Aidan, who is totally not Atticus, takes a flying leap off the rock he was on towards the edge of the Canyon, using his slash Harkens to latch onto the canyon wall. Assuming this works, Aidan takes a wide swing at the head of the large invader which is about to topple over. He wants to use his momentum to kick it over. And then once he connects, he is reeling himself to the wall to get out of dodge. Hell, he will do that anyway, even if he misses! +
[21:46] Knux: Akito: ...we need to stop those things!
[21:47] TK: Aidan "Explosives. Cutting them apart just makes more of them."
[21:47] Dessa: *Rinon's maneuvering herself, as best she can, between the enemies and the base, counting on Dibison's heavy shields to provide protection for herself and those escaping. She's making gratuitous use of her Crusher Horn and Metal Spike Hooves to take out anything in the heavy machine's way.+
[21:48] Knux: *With a scream, Akito charges forward, towards the Invader attacking the Tower and leaps into the sky. Distortion Field up, Knuckle guard over the right arm, thrusters roaring to life. There's only one thing he can do
[21:48] Eric: Hayato: "It's worth it. Reforming too many times wears them out."
[21:48] Eric: "Eventually they'll go down for good"
[21:48] Knux: Akito: YAAAAAAAAGH!
[21:48] Aero: Ichitaka: "How long will that take?"
[21:48] Knux: *cue one "Gekigan Flare"+

[21:52] Eric: *The Tower's guns shift their targets to taking out the legs of the aggregate invader attacking the Tower, aiming to throw their balance off and give the clumsy ship room to maneuver.+

[21:55] Nerdorama09: However, since he's nowhere near a Gravity Wave Emitter, Akito is now completely out of power and his Aesti falls to the groudn.

[21:57] AF: *Benkei's still doing his damnedest to make sure he and Kei get out of this building alive, though boy howdy is that Invader not making it easy for him. *
[21:57] Nerdorama09: Its attacks eventually knock the ground out from beneath Benkei and Kei, sending them tumbling into an underground shelter of some kind.

[21:57] TK: *Mecha don't normally do that. So as soon as it looks like he is starting to fall, Aidan launches the slash harkens backwards to attach them to the wall, and then leaps off of it to try and land next to the Aestivalis... Or better yet grab it mid swing. &
[21:59] Nerdorama09: [Aidan and Akito] Mechanics and physics aside, Aidan successfully prevents the Aestivalis from smashing into the ground, though both mechs end up in a bit of a heap.

[22:04] Steam: Pulling herself up to a sitting position, Kei grunts in affirmative. "Y-yeah... But-"
[22:04] Nerdorama09: Suddenly, however, an enormous drill on the end of an enormous arm spins forth and tears straight through the huge beast, which lets out an inhuman scream!
[22:05] Steam: The looming Invader suddenly kills the rest of her answer as she tries to scramble away to a better distance. "... FUCK!"
[22:05] Nerdorama09: It's a large, blue-and-white and very pointy robot...which turns to look at Kei.
[22:05] Lichi: Atticus curses, pulling at the controls violently!
[22:05] Lichi: *The Harriet's feet scramble against the canyon wall, hover jets blowing away at looser rocks...

[22:08] Nerdorama09: As the two remaining Invaders are both staggered, the Getter Robo beneath what used to be the base extends its drill arm toward Kei and Benkei, the drill splitting apart into some kind of opening. Is that how you're supposed to get on?

[22:08] Steam: Pulling herself up to her feet, Kei reaches over to re-set her dislocated arm. "Pops... we can use this, right?"

[22:10] AF: Benkei's still staring at Getter-2 instead of looking at her, but he nods. "I think... it wants us to pilot it."
[22:10] Dessa: *Rinon gripped her controls. These things were /annoying/... "You're going down," she told the giant... thing... in the canyon, as she launched her Megalo Max 17-shot assault cannons.+

"Alright then... Invader! Remember THIS GUY!?!" And cue Shin Getter 2 blasting down at it, drill revving up and plunging into it.+

All while being careful not to crush Akito. Which since he is used to carrying live grenades in a mecha hand, he is pretty good at doing.

[20:41] Dessa: Rinon's going over all of Dibison's weaponry, making sure that everything is ready.

[21:18] Nerdorama09: [Aidan] Aidan doesn't miss a step on his home terrain, even in an unfamiliar mech, and a sharp hook on a cable tears an Invader in half - each half forming into a smaller copy, but now they're having a hard time reaching him.

[21:19] Nerdorama09: [Akito] There's a sickening sound of tearing metal as the Invader latches a claw into the Aestivalis's foot, but the heat of the Aesti's jump thrusters manages to blast the thing off before it can do more than cosmetic damage.

[21:20] Eric: *Despite the beating it took from the Festum, The Tower has gotten a FEW guns back online, and at Hayato's command those are aimed at the frontlines, taking pressure off the forces defending the base.+
[21:20] TK: Aidan then notices what a Slash Harken is and smirks, "So THAT"s what a slash Harken is?"
[21:20] Lichi: *Climbing up prone over that spike, the Harriet hefted its laser rifle and held down the trigger, creating a constant beam that cut over the faces of those half-pint invaders. If he was on his mark at least.+

[21:20] TK: He picked the right mecha after all.
[21:20] Knux: Akito: "Well, what do you WANT me to do?! I'm a cook!"

[21:21] Aero: *The Rushbird jumps high into the air as usual it aims it's right arm down towards the Invader swarm. "LIGHT BLAZER." He swept the beam across as many of the Invaders as he could,+
[21:21] Nerdorama09: [Aidan] The two smaller Invaders get vaporized by long-range laser fire, but you can continue if those weren't your targets.
[21:23] Nerdorama09: [Ichitaka] Rushbird also takes out several of the beasts, but they're definitely taking notice of the attack from behind now. Most of the Invaders in the back charge forward - largely into the Tower's guns, but the wave of distorting flesh is hardly slowed by that.
[21:23] Nerdorama09: [That was also Hayato I guess]
[21:24] Aero: Ichitaka: "That should help out the others on the opposite side..."
[21:24] Knux: Akito: "Yeah, but now they're aiming for us!"
[21:25] Aero: Ichitaka: "We are the better armed ones in this situation."
[21:25] TK: *Aidan takes the Glasgaw towards the rock wall, and fires the Slash Harkens at the wall. As if he does this sort of thing all the time (in fact, in his old unit, he does) he starts to scale the biggest sandstone rock he can find. His legwork is a bit awkward (he isn't used to having roller blades) but he is revving them against the pull of gravity while they are on the rockface, while using the two slash harkens to brace himself. Slinging them higher and higher he tries to get to the highest vantage point he can. Since the Slash Harkens are shoulder mounted, he fires shots into the crowd of Invaders when he can. +
[21:25] TK: Aidan "Not so sure about that. But it was gonna happen anyway."
[21:25] Nerdorama09: The gunfire and Slash Harken fire tear through the Invaders like they were made of eyeballs or something.
[21:26] Nerdorama09: However, the torn-up Invaders start coalescing back together...not individually, but into one huge, Chernobog-from-Fantasia-looking beast, which rapidly turns its arms into bony scythe-like things and takes swipes at The Tower with its now huge reach (Hayato react)
[21:27] Eric: Not much he can do. The Tower kicks into reverse while the guns focus on the base of the claw/scythe.+
[21:27] TK: (Does Aidan succeed in scaling the rock face to get to the top of the rock? For that matter, is there a top of the rock which he can actually stand on? He can work with either.)

[21:27] Nerdorama09: Meanwhile, the other half of the Invaders are also pulling together into larger beasts, centered around the Invaderized Mechasauruses. The latter launch a volley of rockets, spines, and thrown blades covered in corrosive blackness toward the defensive lines (Atticus react)

[21:28] Nerdorama09: (Aidan is now on top of the cliff face and can support Atticus)
[21:29] TK: *Aidan shoots the machine pistols at whats being shot at the Base, Aiming to knock as much of it as he can. One good turn deserves another after all. +
[21:29] Aero: *"Oh no you don't." The Rushbird flies towards the large scythe it's right fist glowing again as Ichitaka pumped more power into it. "LIGHTNING FIST." He slams the fist into the side of the scythe hoping to either destroy it or at the very least change it's trajectory.+
[21:31] Nerdorama09: [Hayato and Ichitaka] Ichitaka stops one of the attacks, damaging the scythe. The form of the arm changes as Ichitaka attacks it , attempting to stab into the Rushbird with sharp tendrils (Ichitaka react). The other arm takes a chunk out of the Tower's hull, but nothing vital yet.
[21:31] Lichi: *Atticus does not like the looks of that blackness. The Harriet pushes one of the nearby drifter sentinels off of the top of the building to try and save the ally...
[21:32] Eric: Hayato grinds his teeth. Why did old friends have to show up NOW?
[21:32] Nerdorama09: [Aidan and Atticus] Aidan takes out some of the volley, but there's only so much the small autocannons can do (Atticus continue reacting)

[21:32] Lichi: *... and then slides to the edge of the roof, wall hanging to let those attacks go over his head.+

[21:32] Aero: *"Not this time. " As the arm changed the Rushbird released all of the built up energy used for the Lightning Fist. "LIGHT BLAZER." Firing out the large beam once again to incinerate the tendrils.+
[21:33] Nerdorama09: The attacks smash into the base, doing some damage, though less than they would have done to Atticus or the ally he just saved.
[21:33] Lichi: Atticus: "Men, cover's blown! We're sitting ducks up here! Go mobile!!"

[21:34] Nerdorama09: [Ichitaka] Rushbird loses a chunk of energy, but that will replenish. The Invader's tentacles are stopped, regardless.

[21:36] Nerdorama09: One of the large Invaders strides forward over the wrecked wall and starts laying waste to the base proper (react to falling roofs and walls, Benkei and Kei)

[21:37] Lichi: This may be the time to get out of dodge.
[21:38] TK: *Aidan takes a look at the general area. This isn't good, at least he has a good vantage point. But this doesn't play to his strengths. The invaders don't seem to respond to getting cut apart any more than the Festum do, they just multiply and then fuse again. What he needs is explosives. Nevertheless he watches the combat to try and find an opening. Watch and wait, an opening would present itself. It always does. &
[21:38] Steam: * Falling roofs and walls? Not like that's going to scare Kei away without giving a parting shot. Kei scrambles away from the destruction but she brings up her rocket launcher. "... We don't need mechs to beat you!" she grunts as she hefts her launcher and fires a round at it! Yeah she's disregarding her own safety. What of it?+
[21:38] Lichi: *It kicks up the hover jets, moving away from the base and making a storm of dust around it as it starts firing at the enemies with spotting from the camera pods on the canyon walls.+
[21:39] Nerdorama09: (Was that a liquid nitrogen round, Kei?)

[21:39] AF: *Benkei isn't going to let Kei get away with disregarding her own safety for long! "Kei! We need to get out of here!" He'll grab her arm to drag her along if he has to.+
[21:40] Steam: Kei grumbles as her father grabs at her. "I'm covering our escape! That thing'll kill other otherwise!"
[21:40] Nerdorama09: [Kei] The huge Invader's arm is frozen solid and shatters! Which doesn't stop its other arm from continuing to do damage as it starts to grow three more for the hell of it. Then she gets grabbed by Benkei and pulled out of the way of fallen debris

[21:41] Nerdorama09: [Aidan] Aidan takes some chunks out of an Invader's legs with ease, avoiding counterattacks thanks to the dust he's kicking up.

[21:43] Lichi: *The dust storm flies right on by damaged leg, cutting into on the opposite side with the Harriet's bayonet. If things work out? That thing is going to collapse.+

[21:46] TK: *Aidan, who is totally not Atticus, takes a flying leap off the rock he was on towards the edge of the Canyon, using his slash Harkens to latch onto the canyon wall. Assuming this works, Aidan takes a wide swing at the head of the large invader which is about to topple over. He wants to use his momentum to kick it over. And then once he connects, he is reeling himself to the wall to get out of dodge. Hell, he will do that anyway, even if he misses! +
[21:46] Knux: Akito: ...we need to stop those things!
[21:47] TK: Aidan "Explosives. Cutting them apart just makes more of them."
[21:47] Dessa: *Rinon's maneuvering herself, as best she can, between the enemies and the base, counting on Dibison's heavy shields to provide protection for herself and those escaping. She's making gratuitous use of her Crusher Horn and Metal Spike Hooves to take out anything in the heavy machine's way.+
[21:48] Knux: *With a scream, Akito charges forward, towards the Invader attacking the Tower and leaps into the sky. Distortion Field up, Knuckle guard over the right arm, thrusters roaring to life. There's only one thing he can do

[21:48] Eric: "Eventually they'll go down for good"

[21:49] Nerdorama09: [Akito] The Gekigan Flare punches through the Invader! It staggers with a hole in it, not seeming to be able to reform, and certainly not stopping...

[21:51] Nerdorama09: It seems to take a particular interest in them, or at least the part of the building they're in, smashing through roofs and floors with reckless abandon.
[21:52] Nerdorama09: It catches several escaping technicians, reducing them to bloody smears
[21:52] Eric: *The Tower's guns shift their targets to taking out the legs of the aggregate invader attacking the Tower, aiming to throw their balance off and give the clumsy ship room to maneuver.+

[21:53] Knux: *Taking Aidan's words to heart, he quickly initiates another Gekigan Flare, hoping that a) he doesn't get torn up by the machine gun fire and b) he can take out the beast with this last strike.

[21:54] Steam: * Glancing back behind her, Kei just grunts in frustration and fires off a few more of her liquid nitrogen rounds while still fleeing. "You can't have changed from just a few minutes ago" she grunted in frustration

[21:54] Aero: *The Rushbird continues to attack the Invader that attacked him releasing a Maser Eye right into the face of the large Invader. The green lightning like energy would hopefully do something to it while the Rushbird was recharging.+
[21:55] Nerdorama09: However, since he's nowhere near a Gravity Wave Emitter, Akito is now completely out of power and his Aesti falls to the groudn.

[21:56] Nerdorama09: The Maser Eye blasts a chunk out of one of the two standing Invaders (the one not inside the base right now, let's say)

[21:57] AF: *Benkei's still doing his damnedest to make sure he and Kei get out of this building alive, though boy howdy is that Invader not making it easy for him. *
[21:57] Nerdorama09: Its attacks eventually knock the ground out from beneath Benkei and Kei, sending them tumbling into an underground shelter of some kind.

[21:57] TK: *Mecha don't normally do that. So as soon as it looks like he is starting to fall, Aidan launches the slash harkens backwards to attach them to the wall, and then leaps off of it to try and land next to the Aestivalis... Or better yet grab it mid swing. &
[21:59] Nerdorama09: [Aidan and Akito] Mechanics and physics aside, Aidan successfully prevents the Aestivalis from smashing into the ground, though both mechs end up in a bit of a heap.

[22:04] Steam: Pulling herself up to a sitting position, Kei grunts in affirmative. "Y-yeah... But-"
[22:04] Nerdorama09: Suddenly, however, an enormous drill on the end of an enormous arm spins forth and tears straight through the huge beast, which lets out an inhuman scream!
[22:05] Steam: The looming Invader suddenly kills the rest of her answer as she tries to scramble away to a better distance. "... FUCK!"
[22:05] Nerdorama09: It's a large, blue-and-white and very pointy robot...which turns to look at Kei.
[22:05] Lichi: Atticus curses, pulling at the controls violently!
[22:05] Lichi: *The Harriet's feet scramble against the canyon wall, hover jets blowing away at looser rocks...
[22:06] Steam: Wait... giant drill? Kei's even *MORE* dumbfounded as she sees it tear the Invader apart. She almost... sorta remembers it...

[22:06] Lichi: *... and it jams the bayonet at the side of the wall, trying to control and slow its descent._
[22:06] AF: Benkei stares at the robot. He /definitely/ remembers that thing. Maybe not that one /specifically/, but the general design of it is hard to forget. "It couldn't be...."
[22:07] Nerdorama09: [Atticus] The Harriet takes a tumble, but catches itself to prevent more than scratches and dents from falling rocks.
[22:08] Nerdorama09: As the two remaining Invaders are both staggered, the Getter Robo beneath what used to be the base extends its drill arm toward Kei and Benkei, the drill splitting apart into some kind of opening. Is that how you're supposed to get on?

[22:08] Steam: Pulling herself up to her feet, Kei reaches over to re-set her dislocated arm. "Pops... we can use this, right?"
[22:09] Steam: "Getter Robo's what beat the Invaders and the Dinosaur Empire before, right?"
[22:10] AF: Benkei's still staring at Getter-2 instead of looking at her, but he nods. "I think... it wants us to pilot it."
[22:10] Dessa: *Rinon gripped her controls. These things were /annoying/... "You're going down," she told the giant... thing... in the canyon, as she launched her Megalo Max 17-shot assault cannons.+

[22:12] AF: Benkei's ready to go! Despite his many reservations about this, he's... kind of excited to be back in Getter's cockpit.
[22:13] Steam: * With a flare of its thrusters, Shin Getter 2 shoots up through the rubble into the air, and Kei spots the last remaining Invader just begging for a big drill to thrust into it. "Alright then... Invader! Remember THIS GUY!?!" And cue Shin Getter 2 blasting down at it, drill revving up and plunging into it.+
[22:13] Dessa: *Rinon uses her 3-barrel shock cannon to try to deflect as much as she can of the spikes.+

[22:14] Nerdorama09: [Shin Getter] The Invader looks up and tries to resist the GETTER DRILL! attack with its numerous arms. It fails, the sheet torque of the drill sending bits of it flying all over.
[22:15] Aero: *The Rushbird glows for a moment before it fires both the Maser Eye and the Light Blazer at the spikes. +
[22:15] Nerdorama09: [Rinon] manages to get through the storm using most of the ammo of her shock cannon and only taking grazing damage from the attacks.

[22:24] Aero: *Ichitaka grinds his teeth. "We have to do something or we'll lose Getter Robo to the Invaders."

[22:24] Eric: Hayato orders the Tower to open fire, but the machine gunners are similarly horrified, and almost all their shots go wide
[22:24] AF: *Shit that /hurt/. "Dammit!" He snaps the tip off and pulls it out of his gut, throwing it back at the Invader. +

[22:27] Nerdorama09: The Invader has several limbs blasted off. If anything, it manages to look surprised

[22:27] Ethan: Especially the screaming faces.
[22:27] Steam: Kei startled at the sight of this sudden, second Getter. Confused and at the same time... almost know exactly what was about to happen.
[22:27] Ethan: Only one thing for it.
[22:27] Steam: "N-No... there's got to be a way for us to... to save them!"
[22:27] Aero: Ichitaka: "A Black Getter?"
[22:28] TK: As soon as Akito gets out of the thing. Aidan uses the appearance as a distraction to get to the tower, get the battery as fast as he can and return to the Aestivalis. All while being careful not to crush Akito. Which since he is used to carrying live grenades in a mecha hand, he is pretty good at doing.
[22:28] Ethan: It extends spikes from its fists and blades on one of its forearms, and it begins tearing the Invader all the hell apart.
[22:28] Ethan: It's not just ignoring the people. It's aiming for them. +

[22:29] Ethan: Black Getter does not stop, nor give any indication that the pilot heard the objection or gave a fuck!

[22:29] Nerdorama09: By the time the Black Getter is finished, the wounded invader and its spare parts are nothing more than a smear on what used to be the military base.
[22:29] Lichi: Atticus points his rifle at the new unit, but doesn't fire.
[22:29] Eric: Hayato is staring at his viewscreen in silence
[22:29] Dessa: Rinon, by this point, has failed in holding it back, and there is vomit in her cockpit.
[22:29] Eric: which is focused on the Black Getter
[22:29] Aero: Ichitaka: "Rinon are you alright?"
[22:30] TK: Aidan is busy powering up the Aestivalis, though that is probably not necessary at this point. Except to more easily get it back to the tower.

[22:30] Steam: Kei: "Pops... are you...?"
[22:30] Ethan: Just for good measure, it rears back and burns the entrails with another Getter Beam.

[22:31] Steam: Inside Shin Getter Robo, Kei's a seething mess, looking at the black Getter with a mix of feelings... before she just starts to cry.
