SRWUG@ Applications
Application Rules
- Before you can post or comment with a character in either comm, you must apply and be accepted here.
- Each player is be limited to 6 characters. However, provided a player has six characters and maintained good activity for all of them, they may request a seventh slot. In the event they drop a character though, they will have to request the seventh slot again. More details on the seventh slot can be found here.
- Furthermore, after introducing a new canon to the RP, each player will have to wait at least one full activity cycle before they may do so again.
- When posting an app, please put the character name and whether the character was reserved in the comment subject
- You may not app characters who are Reserved, Taken or serve a primarily antagonistic role without working something out with the mods first - please read those two entries first, along with the FAQ if you're new.
- The template is below, note that depending on what kind of character you are apping you may be able to ignore some portions of the template.
- You must fill out all sections marked REQUIRED; other sections are optional or may not be relevant to your character.
- Please note that the Unit/Flagship sections are required if you want to have one, and should be written in your own words. Supplemental links to wikis or MAHQ are fine, but only as supplements; we need to know you can play your unit in combat just like we need to know you can play your character in RP.
- Before writing the app, it is extremely important that you familiarize yourself with the world of UG@ and read the wiki. The world is not a blank slate for you to work with; it is a specific post-apocalyptic setting with a large amount of predetermined backstory and as a result, there are some things which simply will not be found in it
- If you want to app an OC (original character), please view the section below the app template.
- Any character for which canon review would be difficult and/or require a large amount of money (such as video games and untranslated works, fan translations are usually okay) requires a full write up, using the rules outlined for Original Characters below.
- For notes on each specific section click here.
- Due to UG@ entering endgame, limitations on applying new canons come into effect. These affect only already-established players who have characters in the game, not new players. Details are here.
The Application (Copy and paste this, then fill it out.)
Original Characters
- The most important thing to remember when designing your original character: your OC can't do everything. As well, be reasonable with your character's powers: the "power level" here is pretty high, but try to be self-consistent at least.
- Your original character must be detailed enough that we can run a game with them, and show us that you have put enough thought into the character that you know them as well as you would know any other character that someone else made up. While we don't necessarily expect you to not make up anything on the fly while RPing your OC, we do need them to have enough definition in the first place that they don't become your personal "whatever is convenient at the time" spouting device.
- The above also means we reserve the right to ask for longer or more detailed Personality and/or Background section, simply to make sure we have a full idea of the character without canon review to fall back on.
- The mech/battleship and capabilities/resources sections are just as, if not more, important than background and personality, if they're applicable to your character. Also, a physical description of its appearance is highly encouraged.
- If your OC is written using plot devices from another canon, please make sure you ask the player's playing from those canons first. Some things are assumed to be part of the setting as opposed to any particular canon, so being a Coordinator, Newtype, Psychodriver or what not is generally okay so long as you aren't a super special example. Anything more specific, such as being a member of such and such organization or having been at a historical event definitely needs permission.
- You need an event list if you want events, and your event list needs to be a little more detailed than for a canon character for the same reasons as personality and background.
- The sample post section may take several forms for non-OCs, but for original characters we ask for a post on
testrun_box. This is to ensure you have a good grip on your character's personality and how to roleplay them.
Victor Anolis | The Inanity Project (OC Canon) (1/?)
Personal LJ: Selfkun
AIM Contact: selfkun
Character Name: Victor Anolis
Source Canon: The Inanity Project
Community Tag: Victor Anolis
Notes:
Background: Thirty two years ago, a highly regarded geneticist named Gin Stromfeld teamed up with a bio-engineer named Selena Rynser to research and develop the perfect biological/technological interface for the United States military. The two fell in love and married in five years time. Life was hectic for them, but they cherished every minute of it. Every night they would work hand in hand until the wee hours of the morning for the military contract. Eventually, they created a successful bio/techno interface that allowed perfect synergy between the machine and the user. However, there was an unfortunate side effect called "damage transfer." Before the Damage Transfer bug was ever addressed, there was a major accident in the facility. Gin and Selena made it out of the burning research labs with various injuries. Gin had lost an arm, and Selena had a serious wound on her stomach and was losing blood quickly. Selena and her unborn child did not survive that night.
With the loss of his beloved wife and unborn child, Gin Stromfeld was driven into a state of madness. He took the unborn child and proceeded to clone it, creating his son Samael. He gave his son everything: the brains of a genious, a vast array of knowledge, his experience, his memories, and his entire estate. Thusly, Samael grew up as a spoiled brat with an intense hatred of "actual" humans aka those who were born by natural means fueled by this unwarranted hatred. Samael quickly grew more more and more mad and had begun planning the domination of mankind. Gin eventually realized that he had made a mistake and had begun to regret ever creating Samael, so on Samael's tenth birthday Gin had planned to do him in. Unfortunately the colony drops occurred and Gin had died due to the bombardment, and Samael lived on with the know how and resources to create his own army of lovecraftian monsters called Artificials. It took 15 years of preparations, but Samael's army of monsters had been completed...... They then turned on him and killed him, and with his death goes the main plot and replaces it with a monster of the week plot.
Gin, in his madness or brilliance had one last trick up his sleeve, a backup to deal with Samael's plans incase Gin were to fail. This was known as "Project Victory," yet again a clone based theory. This time instead of his unborn son, this clone was a genetic cross between Gin himself and several variations of lizards. Along with this, he had left behind a biological/technological mecha with the prototype bio/techno interface. This mech was named "Zilla" and was designed that only this clone could pilot it. Gin ingrained two things into the memories of the "Victory Clone." Those were a desire to hunt down the unknown enemy and how to use the Zilla.
Years had passed by as the clone grew and developed in its tube in the facility, forgotten by time. That is, until a resident of a nearby orphanage that had been built had decided to explore and found a "person" in a tube. The head of the orphanage let him out of the tube in the barely functioning facilty and named him "Victor" (the y had fallen off the tube containing him, so it said "Project Victor.") He stayed at the orphanage for two years, but his ingrained desires to find and destroy unknown enemies had caused him to leave with his mecha loaded onto a stolen barge.
Re: Victor Anolis | The Inanity Project (OC Canon) (2/?)
Victor may be ignorant and rash, but he is by no means cruel. If he does not know someone, he will be indifferent to them. If people are his friends, he will treat them with nicely and with respect (and also tease them to a degree). If you are Victor's enemy, he will treat you coldly, unless you are directly gainst him, such as combat. Then all gloves are off.
Victor has a tendancy to attack enemies ruthlessly. In this state, reasoning with him is very difficult. If he is left alone, he will most likely rip the enemy to shreds. Yet again, most likely due to ingrained desires. If somebody is a friend or neutral with Victor he will never try to kill them, and if necessary he will do his best to ensure their survival.
Victor loves to mess with people. April Fool's Day is like his Christmas. With friends, his messing around is harmless. With enemies, eh not so much. He absolutely loves to fight. Great fights with low odds of success really gets his cold blood pumping. His favorite foods are..... well, anything really. As long as it does not smell horrible, he will try it. His hobbies include training, watching cheesy B-Movies, and playing fighting games.
Victor dislikes guns with a burning passion. He has an irrational fear of deep water and the Quaker Oatmeal Mascot. Due to being part reptile, Victor is cold blooded and because of this dislikes the cold. If he is cold, he gets very bitter and physically sluggish. If the weather is too cold, or if he's cold too long, Victor will go into "low maintenance mode" and fall asleep. Waking him up will be very hard without getting him to someplace warm. Victor is also a bit of a masochist. He enjoys every aspect of combat, including the pain.
Capabilities and Resources: Due to Victor being a genetic cross between a man and a lizard, he has several advantages put in his physical makeup that increases his survivability. He has increased strength, agility, and durability. He has a very strong sense of smell and taste as well. His reptilian features include scales, a tail, and an extendable tounge that can be used to grab things or freak people out (if his appearance isn't enough to do so anyways).
Due to being part lizard, he also has the ability to regenerate injuries that are not fatal enough to kill him before the growing. For example, a head shot or heart shot will kill him and so will enough gun shots. But if his tail or arm or whatever were to be cut off, it'll take several hours to 2 weeks depending on how much is cut off, but it'll grow back.
Victor is also cold blooded, so he is sluggish in the cold. He also has a tendancy to go into low maintenance mode and fall asleep. His regenerative capabilities are extremely hampered in cold environments.
Re: Victor Anolis | The Inanity Project (OC Canon) (3/?)
Robot Description: The Zilla is a low end super robot. It is a biological/technological mecha, which due to the entire premiss of the plot in in actuality a giant cyberized clone of the main character Victor. The Zilla is braindead and has no will of its own. Thus, Victor can pilot it without any form of interference. The Zilla excells in melee combat with physical armor resistant to kinetic weaponry such as bulltes and swords. However beam based weapons such as beam cannons and beam swords pierce its armor easily. The Zilla also has regenerative capabilities more advanced than its pilot's. It is built to be agile and hit with power, but on its own it cannot fly, just jump good. Due to being primarily physical and the pilot being hydrophobic, it cannot fight in water. The Zilla is blue in color, stands at 41.2 meters and weighs 125 tons.

The Zilla is entirely a melee mecha with claws on its fingers and toes for extra stabbing power. Along with its rows of sharp, inwards curved teeth, it also has a 15 meter long extendable tounge with a barbed end that can be used to impale enemies. In compartments within this mecha's armor is dozens of compartments for various knives. Theses knives include normal knives and 3 specialty knives. The first is the Exploding Knife, a knife that after it gets stabbed into the enemy the handle can get broken off. If the handle gets broken off, the blade erupts in a massive explosion sending explosive force and shrapnel throughout the insides of the enemy. The second is the Warp Knife. The Wrap Knife was initially meant to be able to open warp holes to bypass shieldings and then stab the target. However, it doesn't work right. Once thrown, it disappears and will show up at any location anywhere at any time (aka mod discretion as to what happens to it or what it hits). The third and most powerful specialty knife is the Anti-Newtonian Knife. This knife was meant to ignore the laws of physics. It didn't turn out right either. It can only be thrown a distance of 20 meters before it loses all momentum instantly and falls on the spot. However, if it stabs into any moving object (up to certain mass and size) that object's force and momentum get cancelled then and there and just falls down to the ground. It was never tested in space.
The Zilla is controlled by a direct link up via the Bio/Techno Interface that was developed in the backstory. Victor sits down in a chair within the cockpit in Zilla's upper abdomen. His arms, legs, and head get strapped in place and the interface plugs directly into his central nervous system. This allows Victor to see through Zilla's eyes, to control it with his thoughts, and to use its various weapons. The downside is that it still suffers from "Damage Transfer" where any physical damage that the mech receives the pilot also receives. On a plus side, if the damage dealt to the mech is enough to kill the pilot the interface crashes and the pilot does not receive the fatal damage. The Zilla lays dormant when not in use and is powered by the pilot's own energy, leaving Victor physically drained after using it and requiring him to binge on energy drinks before piloting it so he does not die piloting it.
Terrain Stats:
Land: A
Air: C
Sea: D
Space: C
Upgrades: Thrusters for flight, a giant battle axe that can get really hot to cut through metal, acid spit, laserbeam eyes. The axe and thrusters can be made at anytime, but the acid spit and laserbeam eyes can be discovered at one point later on in the story.
Job: I want Victor to have one but cannot think of anything. Suggestions are appreciated.
Re: Victor Anolis | The Inanity Project (OC Canon) (4/?)
Event 1: Durring a mission: Victor knows that he cannot beat his unknown enemies alone, so he decides to take his mech and look for trouble to find the main characters and become their friends. (which could either be him fighting bad guys or failing at trying to be a bad guy.) This is to introduce the character.
Event 2: Durring a mission: The first of the Artificails makes its appearance. It is a giant silicone based starfish monster with one long tentacle reaching out of it. It is a monster that craves the consumption of energy of all kinds. It has incredably durable armor and after eating enough energy splits in half becoming two monsters. And for the hell of it, lets give it laser beams. (Inspiration: The Silicates from the B Movie Island of Terror http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_v0fV15P7uQo/RlA1zcLeIYI/AAAAAAAAAmY/9i4_oFzQZqU/s400/shortside.jpg)
Event 3: Durring a mission: Another Artificial arrives, a fungus that is seemingly harmless, but has the ability to spread, infect, and control machinery. (can be on foot, in mech, or a combo of both) (Inspiration: Cordyceps Fungus, a fungus in Brazilian rainforests that can control insects. http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/fd577149f704.jpg)
Event 4: Durring a mission: A third Artificial appears. A giant preying mantis that has razor sharp scythe arms, strong fangs, heat vision, and is searching for a place to lay her eggs. (inspiration: B Movie The Deadly Mantis http://cf1.imgobject.com/backdrops/a97/4c702ce67b9aa13ab7000a97/the-deadly-mantis-original.jpg)
Event 5: Durring a mission: A giant 4 legged plant / dinosaur abomination takes root and begins to terroize the environment. It has a large amount of vines covered in armor piercing thorns, regenerative capabilities, photosynthesis, and the ability to spit out highly dangerous / highly radioactive syrup spit. (Inspiration: Biollante from the Godzilla series http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/832/832499/godzilla-unleashed-20071102050857096-000.jpg)
Event 6: Durring a mission: Gorilla H Muffy attacks! He is a giant red gorilla in a straw hat and blue shorts who is apparently made out of some kind of rubbery material. He will not stop until he is the best there is! (Inspiration: Monkey D Luffy from One Piece.... Non Copywrite violation version)
Event 7: Durring a mission: The Militant Monster Silvar appears!!! We all remember Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers right? Well, Silvar is the bastardization of Goldar. He has Silver armor and red skin (which makes him 3 times faster than Goldar.). Silvar desires the destruction of mankind, so he is going to take an army of clay constructs that he calls "Claydees" (which are pretty much power ranger putties) and attack ruthlessly before getting defeated. Then Silvar and the remaining Claydees grow to mecha size and rampage some more. (Inspiration: Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers...... Non Copywrite violation)
Event 8: Durring a mission: Things are really getting weird now. Three anthropomorphic monster children release harmful gases into the air that triggers mass fear and madness, and to top it all off reanimate the dead and control plantlife via nanomachines. The Monster Brothers and Monster Sister have the ability to grow to mecha size and fight with mallets, chainsaws, or whatever they can come up with. (Inspiration: Arkham Horror and Animaniacs)
Event 9: Durring a Mission: A team of master chefs named Roger Soilent and Smith Green use their mastery of the culenary arts to..... COOK PEOPLE!!!!! But that's not all! If you call within the next 20 minutes, we'll throw in Zombie Mayes and the Slap Chopper absolutely free! Join us in this cullenary dungeon crawl of gruesome murders, grotesque dishes, and special tv offers! (Inspiration: Soilent Green and Infomercials)
Re: Victor Anolis | The Inanity Project (OC Canon) (5/5)
Sample Post:
Ugh! Why did I steal a barge! I could've put Zilla on anything from train to blimp, but no! I chose a giant boat! I hate water, especially the ocean..... Just thinking about it makes me shiver! All of those fish and dolphins and whales, breeding. Not only is it a giant bowl of suffocating death, its also a giant bow-chika-wow-wow pit! So, its not just water..... Oh good lord is it not just water! And it ebs and flows and churns and- *Victor lurches forward and vomits all over the deck* Ugh..... now I taste nasty flavors!!!! I hate water! I hate boats! Though I love crab meat.... mmmmm, crab..... Ugh! Rocking boat, feeling ill!
