SRWUG@ Applications

Application Rules
  • Before you can post or comment with a character in either comm, you must apply and be accepted here.
  • Each player is be limited to 6 characters. However, provided a player has six characters and maintained good activity for all of them, they may request a seventh slot. In the event they drop a character though, they will have to request the seventh slot again. More details on the seventh slot can be found here.
  • Furthermore, after introducing a new canon to the RP, each player will have to wait at least one full activity cycle before they may do so again.
  • When posting an app, please put the character name and whether the character was reserved in the comment subject
  • You may not app characters who are Reserved, Taken or serve a primarily antagonistic role without working something out with the mods first - please read those two entries first, along with the FAQ if you're new.
  • The template is below, note that depending on what kind of character you are apping you may be able to ignore some portions of the template.
  • You must fill out all sections marked REQUIRED; other sections are optional or may not be relevant to your character.
  • Please note that the Unit/Flagship sections are required if you want to have one, and should be written in your own words. Supplemental links to wikis or MAHQ are fine, but only as supplements; we need to know you can play your unit in combat just like we need to know you can play your character in RP.
  • Before writing the app, it is extremely important that you familiarize yourself with the world of UG@ and read the wiki. The world is not a blank slate for you to work with; it is a specific post-apocalyptic setting with a large amount of predetermined backstory and as a result, there are some things which simply will not be found in it
  • If you want to app an OC (original character), please view the section below the app template.
  • Any character for which canon review would be difficult and/or require a large amount of money (such as video games and untranslated works, fan translations are usually okay) requires a full write up, using the rules outlined for Original Characters below.
  • For notes on each specific section click here.
  • Due to UG@ entering endgame, limitations on applying new canons come into effect. These affect only already-established players who have characters in the game, not new players. Details are here.

The Application (Copy and paste this, then fill it out.)

Original Characters
  • The most important thing to remember when designing your original character: your OC can't do everything. As well, be reasonable with your character's powers: the "power level" here is pretty high, but try to be self-consistent at least.
  • Your original character must be detailed enough that we can run a game with them, and show us that you have put enough thought into the character that you know them as well as you would know any other character that someone else made up. While we don't necessarily expect you to not make up anything on the fly while RPing your OC, we do need them to have enough definition in the first place that they don't become your personal "whatever is convenient at the time" spouting device.
  • The above also means we reserve the right to ask for longer or more detailed Personality and/or Background section, simply to make sure we have a full idea of the character without canon review to fall back on.
  • The mech/battleship and capabilities/resources sections are just as, if not more, important than background and personality, if they're applicable to your character. Also, a physical description of its appearance is highly encouraged.
  • If your OC is written using plot devices from another canon, please make sure you ask the player's playing from those canons first. Some things are assumed to be part of the setting as opposed to any particular canon, so being a Coordinator, Newtype, Psychodriver or what not is generally okay so long as you aren't a super special example. Anything more specific, such as being a member of such and such organization or having been at a historical event definitely needs permission.
  • You need an event list if you want events, and your event list needs to be a little more detailed than for a canon character for the same reasons as personality and background.
  • The sample post section may take several forms for non-OCs, but for original characters we ask for a post on [community profile] testrun_box. This is to ensure you have a good grip on your character's personality and how to roleplay them.

Robot Name: MBF-P03 Gundam Astray "Blue Frame"
Robot Description: One of three prototype mobile suits developed by Morgenroete in conjunction with the Earth Alliance, the Blue Frame is a lightly armed mobile suit that is nearly identical to sister units Red and Gold Frame, differing only in the abilities of their hand plugs. The Blue Frame’s hand plugs are technically the most unspecialized as they possess no other abilities aside from exchanging data and energy. Initially armed with a pair of head mounted CIWS, a beam saber, a beam rifle, and a shield, the Blue Frame is frequently upgraded in order to complete the mission at hand. As a result, the Blue Frame has a variety of customizations ranging from heavier armaments for more combat intensive missions to equipment designed for underwater warfare.

Side-grades:
Robot Name: MBF-P03 Gundam Astray "Blue Frame" – Scale System
Robot Description: Designed for underwater warfare, the Scale System is equipped with leg boosters to improve underwater mobility, an specially designed underwater rifle, and missile launchers. The underwater rifle is based off the coilgun design, sometimes mistaken as the gauss gun, that fires an electromagnetically charged projectile at high speeds while also puncturing armor. The Scale System, while useful, receives limited use due to the lack of water related missions.

Robot Name: MBF-P03 Gundam Astray "Blue Frame" – Heavy Weapons
Robot Description: Being a prototype with near negligible differences from its brethren, the Blue Frame was lightly armed and dire need of an upgrade to improve its efficiency for the often dangerous missions that Serpent Tail undertakes. The Heavy Weapons loadout includes a pair of leg mounted 3 tube missile launchers, a back mounted 8 tube missile launcher, and 2 M68 "Cattus" 500mm recoilless rifle.

Upgrades:
Robot Name: MBF-P03 Gundam Astray Blue Frame 2nd L
Robot Description: After getting heavily damaged in a particularly taxing fight, Gai further upgrades the Blue Frame with the help of Red Frame pilot, Lowe Gear. The 2nd L, the ‘L’ a nod towards Lowe himself, includes a Tactical Arms that is capable of atmospheric flight while doubling as an oversized sword and a 90 mm Gatling gun. It also features Phase Shift Armor around the cockpit, anchors within the feet, and a miniature Lohengrin Launcher.

Job: Mercenary

Suggested Event List:
1. Blue Frame, Red Frame: Following a mission resulting in the loss of his previous mobile suit, Gai receives a mission to infiltrate the ruined colony of Heliopolis and destroy all evidence of the Astray Frames. It is during this mission that Gai encounters the Junk Guild pilot Lowe Gear in the midst of salvaging the Astrays. Despite Lowe’s efforts, Gai manages to gain control of the Blue Frame and is soon betrayed by his employers. Following a brief skirmish between Lowe, Gai, and his former employers, Gai leaves the Red Frame with Lowe and goes on his way with Blue Frame in tow.
2. Giga-Float: The Giga-Float, an artificial island built for civilian use by the Earth Alliance, has been subject to numerous terrorist attacks during its construction. Once completed the Giga-Float would then constantly stay on the move to avoid frequent attacks. While the Junk Guild was hired to help finish the construction, Serpent Tail was hired to protect it from any attacks. Nearing completion the Giga-Float is attacked by Rondo Ghina Sahaku in the Gold Frame and is intercepted by Lowe. The fight taking a turn for the worse, Gai joins in and assists Lowe in driving off the Gold Frame allowing the Giga-Float to be repaired and completed.
3. The Fateful Decision: Observing the battle between Lowe and Ghina, Gai bides his time. However when Red Frame’s Gerbera Straight is shattered all hope suddenly seems lost for Lowe. Making his presence known and refusing to let Lowe simply die, Gai lends him his Tactical Arms allowing Lowe to deal a crippling blow to the Gold Frame. As the Junk Guild leaves the area, Gai quietly executes Ghina before fleeing the area in the presence of an Izumo-class battleship.

Sample Post:
Swiftly weaving through the incoming barrage of beams, the Blue Frame continued to open fire with its own recoilless rifle. As each round came closer to Red Frame Gai continued to press his advantage, the Blue Frame suddenly speeding forward shield at the ready before it bum rushed the Red Frame sending it into the air.

With a rough landing the Blue Frame stood as it waited for its opponent to make the next move though if things continued things would end badly for Red Frame’s pilot. Gai arched an eyebrow when the standing Red Frame suddenly tossed its rifle away in favor of drawing its beam saber. Things were about to get interesting.

“Hm”

Purging the backpack that the second rifle was mounted on, Blue Frame drew its own beam saber as the Red Frame closed the gap to take things to the next level.
