SRWUG@ Applications
Application Rules
- Before you can post or comment with a character in either comm, you must apply and be accepted here.
- Each player is be limited to 6 characters. However, provided a player has six characters and maintained good activity for all of them, they may request a seventh slot. In the event they drop a character though, they will have to request the seventh slot again. More details on the seventh slot can be found here.
- Furthermore, after introducing a new canon to the RP, each player will have to wait at least one full activity cycle before they may do so again.
- When posting an app, please put the character name and whether the character was reserved in the comment subject
- You may not app characters who are Reserved, Taken or serve a primarily antagonistic role without working something out with the mods first - please read those two entries first, along with the FAQ if you're new.
- The template is below, note that depending on what kind of character you are apping you may be able to ignore some portions of the template.
- You must fill out all sections marked REQUIRED; other sections are optional or may not be relevant to your character.
- Please note that the Unit/Flagship sections are required if you want to have one, and should be written in your own words. Supplemental links to wikis or MAHQ are fine, but only as supplements; we need to know you can play your unit in combat just like we need to know you can play your character in RP.
- Before writing the app, it is extremely important that you familiarize yourself with the world of UG@ and read the wiki. The world is not a blank slate for you to work with; it is a specific post-apocalyptic setting with a large amount of predetermined backstory and as a result, there are some things which simply will not be found in it
- If you want to app an OC (original character), please view the section below the app template.
- Any character for which canon review would be difficult and/or require a large amount of money (such as video games and untranslated works, fan translations are usually okay) requires a full write up, using the rules outlined for Original Characters below.
- For notes on each specific section click here.
- Due to UG@ entering endgame, limitations on applying new canons come into effect. These affect only already-established players who have characters in the game, not new players. Details are here.
The Application (Copy and paste this, then fill it out.)
Original Characters
- The most important thing to remember when designing your original character: your OC can't do everything. As well, be reasonable with your character's powers: the "power level" here is pretty high, but try to be self-consistent at least.
- Your original character must be detailed enough that we can run a game with them, and show us that you have put enough thought into the character that you know them as well as you would know any other character that someone else made up. While we don't necessarily expect you to not make up anything on the fly while RPing your OC, we do need them to have enough definition in the first place that they don't become your personal "whatever is convenient at the time" spouting device.
- The above also means we reserve the right to ask for longer or more detailed Personality and/or Background section, simply to make sure we have a full idea of the character without canon review to fall back on.
- The mech/battleship and capabilities/resources sections are just as, if not more, important than background and personality, if they're applicable to your character. Also, a physical description of its appearance is highly encouraged.
- If your OC is written using plot devices from another canon, please make sure you ask the player's playing from those canons first. Some things are assumed to be part of the setting as opposed to any particular canon, so being a Coordinator, Newtype, Psychodriver or what not is generally okay so long as you aren't a super special example. Anything more specific, such as being a member of such and such organization or having been at a historical event definitely needs permission.
- You need an event list if you want events, and your event list needs to be a little more detailed than for a canon character for the same reasons as personality and background.
- The sample post section may take several forms for non-OCs, but for original characters we ask for a post on
testrun_box. This is to ensure you have a good grip on your character's personality and how to roleplay them.
Rinon Toros | Zoids New Century /0
Personal LJ:
AIM Contact: [private, will share with mods and on contact post]
Character Name: Rinon Toros
Source Canon: Zoids New Century /0
Community Tag: rinon toros
Notes: While her app is based on the English version of the series, I use her Japanese name because it’s shown on-screen in romaji (and, I like it better). Also, I have no clue how to merge New Century into the story of the game.
Background:
Rinon Toros is the daughter of Steve “Doc” Toros, and the younger sister of Leon Toros. Her mother died when she was very young, and she doesn’t have any memories of her. She grew up happy with her dad and brother (even if her dad was a bit of a Zoid otaku), and learned to be a Zoid Warrior. Along with Jamie, the son of one of their dad’s friends, and a mercenary named Brad, Leon and Rinon formed the Blitz Team, with Doc serving as team leader/mentor.
The Blitz Team, while somewhat skilled, had a lot of problems. While Leon was a capable pilot, Rinon was far too trigger-happy (and didn’t have much of a sense of aiming), Brad was only in it for the money, and Jamie was too nervous and unsure of his skills. They fought in the Class B, though just barely.
During one battle, Leon was hurt, and his Blade Liger heavily damaged, when it tripped over a salvage unit that was illegally on the battlefield. The Blitz Team took the scavenger, Bit Cloud, captive, but, with the help of the unusable Zoid, Liger Zero, he escaped in the middle of the night. Bit came back during the rematch of the previous day’s battle, registered as a Warrior, and helped them to win. Bit was (grudgingly) accepted as part of the team, and Leon left, wanting to find his own way.
After this, the Blitz Team went on a massive winning streak, led by Bit in the Liger Zero. Rinon fought with the team, though she didn’t really improve her skills much. She attracted the attention of another Warrior named Harry Champ, though his feelings were not reciprocated. The team as a whole also attracted the attention of the Backdraft Group, an illegal organization that used unsanctioned battles to steal Zoids from teams.
After an… embarrassing incident… Rinon ended up kidnapped by the Backdraft, who forced the Blitz Team into a battle to rescue her, but she managed to rescue herself. Another incident with the Backdraft Group left Rinon’s Dibison utterly destroyed, but she quickly replaced it with a stupidly-over-spec’d Gun Sniper.
During one trip into town, a strange man approached her with a bouquet of flowers, saying she was as beautiful as her mother had been, before disappearing. Rinon was confused, but shrugged it off, though it would come up again later.
Harry’s sister Mary showed up at one point, and while she managed to utterly piss off Rinon by saying she wasn’t good enough for her brother (even if Rinon didn’t want him in the first place), the Blitz Team beat them in battle, moving up to Class A.
The team continued fighting, and continued fighting against the Backdraft Group. They also ran into problems with someone calling themself the ‘Chainsaw Man,’ who was specifically targeting Rinon, who had bragged that she was the most powerful Warrior. However, when she realized they weren’t zombies, but Zoids, she went all out.
On her way back from a shopping trip, Rinon was kidnapped, by the same person who’d given her the flowers before. She woke up in a bed full of flowers, and the man, Dr. Layon, knew Doc Toros. Due to an incident when they were younger involving Rinon’s mother, Layon wants revenge on him. Of course, despite the barrier supposedly keeping her trapped, Rinon again managed to escape on her own. She was picked up by Jamie’s dad, who explained to her that all the problems between Toros and Layon were his fault.
Rinon still had to put up with Harry as well, though. He ended up standing her up (due to getting kidnapped) when her father set up a date for her. Later, during a battle with Layon (who had kidnapped Harry), Rinon was pissed off at him for standing her up, and used the Wild Weasel’s full assault to take out the Whale King.
Re: Rinon Toros | 2 of 3
Three Geno Saurs, though, showed up with their Charge Particle Canons to take out the Berserk Fury. The weapons would have taken out Rinon as well, but she was defended both by Harry’s team, as well as Dr Layon. The blast took out the Whale King, but Layon was able to survive. He explained to her about the Ultimate X, before passing out from his injuries.
While they were separated, Bit and Brad had beaten Naomi and Leon, giving the Blitz Team their fifth win, and the last passcode to find the location of the finish line. However, Vega was there as well, and they had to battle to claim the title. With Raynos out of commission, and Gun Sniper apparently out as well, only Liger and Shadow Fox were available to battle. Shadow Fox was also taken out. Berserk Fury was about to take out the Hover Cargo, but the shields held, and Liger Zero fought in one-on-one against the other Ultimate X Zoid. Rinon and the others could only watch, but Bit was able to win, and the Blitz Team moved up to Class S.
Personality:
Rinon is haughty, overbearing, spoiled, self-centered, and stubborn. And those are her good qualities.
Okay, realistically, she’s not that bad. Really, what else can you expect, since she grew up around guys, than for her to grow up as ‘one of the guys.’ Even though women are allowed to be Warriors, it’s primarily a male-dominated world, so she’s had no choice but to ‘toughen up’. And, of course, without her mom around, and with her father the way he is, she’s never really been told ‘no’ enough, either.
Rinon’s pretty full of herself, vastly overstating her abilities which are, while not bad, fairly average. She also doesn’t follow orders well (or listen when people tell her things), constantly wasting ammo because she simply doesn’t pay attention, and has been noted as not being one to learn from her mistakes.
Still, as spoiled as she is, Rinon’s got a good heart. It’s obvious that she cares about her family and friends, and she’s very passionate about Zoids (particularly those with heavy weaponry on them. Of course, her passion isn’t necessarily a good point. She’s also very passionate about food, and will steal it from others, and get pissed when people do the same to her.
Rinon’s biggest flaw is her temper, which has a very short fuse. Well, okay, short might be an understatement. She doesn’t accept insults of any sort, whether they be something she wants or not (case in point, she hates Harry’s advances on her, but can’t stand being considered ‘not good enough’ for him, either). Even accidents are subject to her ire, like when Bit walked in on her in the shower, and Jamie was simply checking on him. Her response? To go chasing down Bit in a Zoid and shooting missiles at him.
However, as ‘tough’ as she is, that’s not to say that she doesn’t have her fears. When she heard rumors about someone called the ‘Chainsaw Man,’ who may or may not be a zombie, she freaked out. Of course, once she figured out that it was all a ruse, she went all out on them, taking her revenge.
Capabilities and Resources: Rinon’s an average skilled Zoid Warrior, and a member of the Blitz Team.
Re: Rinon Toros | 3 of 3
Robot Description: Zoids Wiki page (http://zoids.wikia.com/wiki/Dibison)
Dibison is a bison-type Zoid, that has heavy armor and heavy artillery. It falls somewhere in the middle of the Super/Real spectrum, possibly a bit closer to Super because it may or may not be semi-sentient (this is never shown in the New Century anime). Despite it being quite literally a tank, its only close-range weaponry are the Crusher Horn and the Crusher Metal Spike Hooves, the rest being long-range. (See wiki page for more on armaments)
Terrain Stats:
Land: C-B
Air: D
Sea: D
Space: D
Upgrades: When the Dibison is destroyed, Rinon switches to the Gun Sniper Leena Special (http://zoids.wikia.com/wiki/Gun_Sniper), which has the standard armaments plus a Wild Weasel unit, two Beam Gatling units, two triple launcher units, and a quartet of missile pods. She, uh… likes missiles.
Job: none
Suggested Event List: There’s really not much in NC that can be used as missions, considering it’s a sports series pretending to be a mecha series. However, there are a few things that could be used, or merged into other things.
1) Backdraft Group - Illegal organization that organizes unsanctioned battles to steal Zoids, looking for something called the ‘Ultimate X’.
2) Dr Layon’s Storm Machine and Anti-Gravity Beam - The former (episode 8) creates storm clouds and releases orbs that let off heavy electrical attacks to simulate lightning. The latter (episode 15) is a strong beam that negates gravity in a large area (also affects aerial mechs).
3) The Berserk Fury - Stupid-powerful ancient Zoid unearthed from ruins with stupid-powerful weapons and armor.

Rinon [initially] pilots the Dibison, which is a high-performance Bison-type Zoid (said to have the power of 3 Zoids). The Zoid itself has a height of 10.8m, a length of 20.6m, a weight of 230 tons, and a maximum speed of 130km/h. In other words, it's big, it's bulky, it's heavy, and it's not the fastest mech out there (although it's decent in a charge). Of course, its strength is also long-ranged artillery, so it doesn't have to be fast.
The Dibison does have a few close-range weapons, in its Crusher Horn and Crusher Metal Spike Hooves, which can be used to penetrate the armor of or trample an enemy mech, as well as thick and heavy enough armor to handle both melee or ranged attacks. However, it's strength is in its long-distance weaponry, which Rinon uses to its utmost capacity.
Most obviously is the 105mm 17-shot Megalo Max Assault Cannons, mounted directly to the back of the Zoid. Accompanying these are a pair of 8-shot Missile Pods, and a pair of 35mm Anti-Ground canons. Finally, it is also equipped with an AZ 3-Barreled Shock Cannon, and a Pulse Beam Gun. These are Rinon's preferred weaponry, though she tends to lock on and shoot her big cannons early, leaving her open if the fight is drawn out. She is not a bad pilot, though her main tactic is to cause as much destruction as she can, rather than precision (hence why she uses so many cannons and missiles), and the best strategy to use her in is to trick her into doing what you want her to, because she generally does what she wants.
Of note, however, is that the Dibison can accommodate two crew members, allowing an additional pilot or non-combatant to accompany Rinon. Furthermore, it is also equipped with a GPS 3D Radar Antenna, which is integrated into it's sensory system, allowing it to detect enemies at a long range. A Commander or other tactical non-combatant could easily use this system to better monitor the battle situation, while being protected inside the heavily armored mech.
The Dibison, being quite obviously situated for ground battle, has no space, air, or sea fighting abilities. It's ground ranking would likely be a high B or a low A. It lacks agility, but its armor and sensor capabilities still make it a highly useful machine.
[[The "Leena Special" is actually additional weaponry for the Gun Sniper (see icon), her replacement machine when the Dibison is totalled beyond repair]]
